Tokyo Xtreme Racer's Wanderers Are a Pain in the Ass. Here's How to Beat Them.

So, you’ve beaten the teams, you’ve conquered the bosses, and now you’re left chasing the ghosts of the Shuto Expressway. The Wanderers. This guide is your bible for hunting down every last one of these elusive bastards.

A gameplay screenshot from Tokyo Xtreme Racer features a gold sports car with teal racing stripes driving at night on a multi-level Tokyo highway, flanked by illuminated skyscrapers.

These drivers are a special kind of pain in the ass. They don't just show up for a race for the love of the game, nah; they have standards. Weird, arbitrary standards. They demand specific cars, certain vinyls, or that you've driven enough kilometers to circle the damn moon. I've done the legwork, deciphered the cryptic hints, and compiled it all here so you can spend less time guessing and more time racing.

Getting Your Shit Together

Before you even start hunting, you need to get organized. Every time you start a new session, check the Parking Areas for yellow speech bubbles. NPCs there will drop hints about Wanderer requirements. Talk to all of them. This adds the requirements to your in-game reference menu, which is your best friend. Also, get used to living in the RIVAL tab on the course map; it'll show you which Wanderers are currently spawned and where to find them.

A lot of these weirdos want you to hit a certain stat. Your total wins, win streak, mileage, and cash earned are all tracked in the GARAGE menu under JOURNAL. You'll be checking this screen a lot, so get familiar with it. Keep in mind that most Wanderers won't appear the instant you meet their demands. You usually have to duck back into the garage and come back out to trigger their spawn.

Some requirements are just a grind. For win streaks, feel free to beat up on the same poor bastard over and over. You'll need a streak of at least 35 to satisfy everyone. For mileage, the fastest way is to just redline it down the Wangan. You'll need a lifetime total of over 3,000km. Or just set your car to auto-pilot and go make a sandwich.

The Mandatory Shopping List

To beat every Wanderer, you need a specific garage. Don't sell these cars when you're done with them; you'll thank me in New Game+. One driver in particular requires you to own one of each of these specific models. This collection will also cover every other niche requirement like engine type, drivetrain, or aspiration, so you're covered.

You’ll need the Daihatsu Copen Cero '15, Honda Civic Type R '22, Mazda RX-7 Type RZ '00, and literally any Mitsubishi. Also grab the Nissan 180SX Type X '96, the Fairlady 240Z '71, the Fairlady Z33 '05, and the new Fairlady RZ34 '24. Round it out with a Suzuki Alto Works '15, Toyota bB Z X '03, the GR Yaris RZ '20, and a Mark X 350RDS '16. And remember, you have to use the standard version of these cars, not some tuned-up boss variant you won.

For your main ride, I’d strongly recommend a Nissan GT-R Premium '14 or '17, or the Lexus LFA '10. They're endgame monsters that can handle the toughest races even without nitrous or tuning, which some of these picky sons of bitches demand. Just don't buy the '22 GT-R; you can't even tune the damn thing.

The Hit List: An Exhaustive Breakdown

Alright, let's get down to business. I’ve broken down these elusive bastards by the type of specific “care” they demand, so you can knock out similar challenges at the same time and save yourself a few headaches.

Drivers With Specific Tastes (Car Requirements)

These Wanderers won't even look at you unless you're in the right ride.

Immortal Clown: Beat the Roadnauts and show up in a Toyota bB Z X '03.

Silent Barbarian: Own at least two cars and drive the Toyota Mark X 350RDS '16.

Shimokitazawa 2000 CC: Requires the Nissan 180SX Type X w/ SUPER HICAS (KRPS13) '96.

Wind of Napoli: Drive a Suzuki Alto Works '15 and have at least 100km on your odometer.

Shonan Affair: Bring any car with a rotary engine. The Mazda RX-7 works perfectly.

Technician Ono: Must have over 100km driven and be in an FR car.

Tragic Matterhorn: Use the Nissan Fairlady Z Version (Z33) '05.

Gold License: First, beat Mad Stranger. Then, challenge them in a Daihatsu Copen Cero '15.

Surfing Umibozu: A weekend-only racer who only challenges 4WD cars.

Gentle Examiner: Drive any FF car. The Civic Type R will cover this.

Flying Fish of Shuto Expressway: Beat Swimmer Yuto, then drive the Nissan Fairlady Z RZ34 '24.

Helper Robot: Requires the Toyota GR Yaris RZ '20.

Steel Triangle: Bring any Mitsubishi.

God Ear: Your car needs to be naturally aspirated. Upgrading your engine too much can add a turbo, so you might need to downgrade to meet this one.

Fire Legend: Own at least 15 cars and drive the Nissan Fairlady 240Z '71.

FD Tomo-San: Challenge them with the Mazda RX-7 Type RZ '00.

Lady Lightning: Requires the Honda Civic Type R '22.

True Slide: Defeat Melancholy Angel twice (including her rematch), and you must be in an FR car.

The Posers and Peacocks (Cosmetic & Tuning Requirements)

This group cares more about how your car looks than how it drives.

Comedic Disruptor: Equip any neon. The in-game hint incorrectly says not to.

Unbalanced Ishii: Simply equip any aero parts.

Last Flight: Your car cannot have any tuning modifications installed. Go in bone stock.

Raspberry Kiss: Install a level 2 or higher body modification.

Craftsman Manabe: Just like Ishii, equip any aero parts.

Snow Dancer: Equip a custom paint color. Again, the game's hint is wrong.

Strongest Maamin: You need the leopard print vinyl, which is hiding under the "Camouflage" section of the livery editor.

Mr. N-Tsuka: Equip the INFINITY sticker. The game incorrectly tells you not to.

Something Fun: Slap at least 20 different vinyls onto your car to get this artist's attention.

Chic Spirit: Equip the DESIRE sticker, but only after you’ve beaten Dark Night's Betelgeuse five times.

One Bridge Sergeant: Lower your car's ride height to the absolute minimum setting.

Loyal Knight: Cannot have any tuning parts installed. Another stock-only challenge.

Hard Weapon: Your car must have its stock brakes installed. Don't upgrade them.

Wailing Pluto: Have at least one tuning part at max level, or have the Legendary Mechanic max your car out.

Tortoiseshell Mask: Equip any aura cosmetic.

The Road Warriors (Grinding Requirements)

These drivers respect one thing: commitment. Get ready to put in the miles and the wins.

Devil Road Run: Have a lifetime mileage of at least 666km.

White Leopard of Yokohama: Get a win streak of 10 or more.

Impatient Princess: Have a total mileage over 2,000km.

Highway Gambler: Your total lifetime earnings need to be 77,777,777 CP or more.

Indomitable Alexander: Rack up over 3,000km in total mileage.

Red Storm: You need to have won over 400 total battles.

Lonely Wolf: Must have a total battle count of 500 or more.

Mystic Barber: Get a 20-win streak and race without nitrous.

Midnight Silver Wolf: Get five "Clean Cornering" bonuses in a row during races.

Kawagoe Handsome: Defeat 380 total rivals.

White Charisma: Get another 20-win streak.

Silver Nobleman: Defeat 45 different rival teams.

Revenge Eyes: Rack up a 35-win streak.

The Tourists and Locals (Location, Time & Plate Requirements)

For these racers, it's all about being in the right place, at the right time, with the right paperwork.

Green Wild Child: Only appears on weekends. Slap a Naniwa license plate on your car.

Storm Streamer: Another weekend-only driver.

Setouchi Noodle Artisan: You'll need the Kagawa license plate for this one.

Lonely Nihilist: Only races on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Perfect Revolution: You need to have visited the Hakozaki PA at least three times.

Jet Skater: Defeat the STRONG FORMATION team. Only appears on weekends.

Kumamoto License Plate: Simple enough. Equip the Kumamoto license plate.

Secret Blend: Visit the Shibaura PA 15 times or more.

Mountain Man: Shows up only on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Ghost Soul: Equip the Yokohama license plate.

Local Rich Man: Equip the Iwaki license plate.

Toyosu Speedster: Appears on days that are a multiple of 10 (10th, 20th, 30th). No nitrous allowed.

Hydro Drift Ninja: Equip the Shiga license plate.

Tuesday's Big Teacher: As the name implies, only shows up on Tuesday.

Bayshore Sheriff: Defeat every rival at the Heiwajima PA (Down), then race without nitrous.

The Odd Jobs (Miscellaneous Requirements)

And here's the rest of the weirdos with truly unique demands.

Master Position: You'll find this one after defeating the CATXCAT team.

Garage Hauro: Show up without a nitrous system installed.

Goggled Grin: Appears only after you've defeated Snow Dancer.

Roulette Guy V3: Spawns after you hear his rumor at a PA.

Spirit Kiriko: You need to have defeated 55 other Wanderers first.

Lightspeed Courier: Push another car from behind for about 1km. You'll get an achievement for it.

King of Spades: Crash into one of the C1 Ginza dividers to get an achievement, and have at least 30,000,000 CP in your wallet.

Yokohama Cutie: Unlocks after you beat Kawagoe Handsome.

Flower Seller Taro: Complete a lap of the C1 Outer Loop, Ginza Segment, in 30 seconds or less.

Cyber Dame: Beat Crimson Boy, Golden Hannya, and Iron Old Man at least two times each.

Unrivaled Emperor: The final challenge. You must defeat Revenge Eyes to get him to appear.
