Why NLM Exists

NeonLightsMedia is a truly independent platform. We are not owned by a major corporation, and we have zero financial backing from any publishers or conglomerates. This means we don't have to play nice to keep our access or worry about offending a parent company's advertisers. When you read a review or a news story here, you are getting the truth.

Who owns this website?

That would be me, Josh. I have spent the better part of my life obsessing over pixels and frame rates, starting my first blog when I was just 14. I launched NLM in early 2022 to bring an independent sound back to a landscape that felt like it was drowning in corporate polish.

I have lived and breathed this industry since I was a kid, and my tastes reflect that weird, wonderful journey. While most people were chasing the latest cinematic blockbusters, I was usually buried deep in a complex RTS or a punishing FPS. I also have a massive, possibly concerning, weak spot for simulators and the glorious jank of European AA titles.

I have to admit, occasionally a AAA game actually hits the mark, but my main love has shifted heavily into the AA and indie space recently. There's just more soul there, even if the edges are a bit rough. I’m not saying that to sound like some unique gaming philosopher, it’s just where the fun is right now.

No Outside Opinions

I vet every contributor to ensure they meet the same standard: Everyone who writes for NLM has spent time involved in the gaming industry. We aren't just looking in from the outside with a detached perspective. We have seen the reality of development firsthand. We know how the sausage is made, which is exactly why we're so critical yet also forgiving of it.

The goal here is simple: provide clear, well-explained content without the typical fluff. We focus on direct guides, honest reviews, breaking news, and the occasional exclusive interview that actually asks the hard questions. We are gamers, and we love this industry even if it sometimes makes us go absolutely insane.

NeonLightsMedia was built because I was tired of reading gaming news that felt like it was written by a PR bot on its lunch break.
