Lionsgate Finally Admits A AAA John Wick Game Is Coming To Kill Everyone

Lionsgate has finally stopped flirting with the idea and confirmed that a big-budget John Wick action game is officially in the works.

I have been saying for years that the John Wick franchise is a video game in search of a controller. We had the experimental strategy of John Wick Hex, which was fine if you like puzzles, but let’s be real. We want the gun-fu. We want the relentless, high-octane violence that makes Keanu Reeves look like a god. During a recent earnings call, the suits at Lionsgate finally stopped talking in circles and admitted they are moving forward with actual AAA gaming initiatives.

The Boogeyman Goes Big Budget

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chairman Adam Fogelson dropped the bomb during the studio's Q2 2026 earnings call. He did not just mention John Wick; he hinted at a broader strategy involving multiple IPs. This is a massive shift from the smaller, licensed stuff we have seen previously. We are talking about a full-scale action experience that aims to capture the intensity of the films.

According to Fogelson, these "AAA game opportunities" are on schedule and will be announced soon. It is about time. Usually, when a movie studio talks about gaming, I prepare for a soul-crushing mobile cash-grab with too many microtransactions. But the "AAA" label suggests they are actually putting some weight behind this.

Jigsaw Is Also Joining The Party

It is not just about Baba Yaga. Fogelson also confirmed that a Saw game is in the works alongside some other secret projects. I am hoping for something more sophisticated than the janky licensed titles we got during the PS3 era. If they can capture the claustrophobic dread of a Jigsaw trap without the mechanical frustration of bad controls, we might actually have a horror hit on our hands.

As spotted by the folks at Tech4Gamers, Lionsgate has observed increased interest and opportunities to adapt its gaming franchises. It is a cynical way of saying they realized there is a mountain of money to be made if they stop half-assing their digital presence.

Why This Matters For Fans

Most movie-to-game adaptations end up in the bargain bin of history because they are rushed, underfunded, or both. However, Lionsgate seems to be doing this the right way. With Keanu Reeves already being a veteran of the gaming scene thanks to Cyberpunk 2077, the path is wide open for him to step back into the suit for a digital performance that actually matters.

I am tired of seeing great action cinema get reduced to a match-three mobile game. If they can deliver even half the precision of the movie's choreography, we might finally get the shooter we deserve. Just do not expect it to be a walk in the park. Knowing Lionsgate, they will find a way to make sure we suffer just as much as John does before the credits roll.

I will keep my ears to the ground for which studio actually lands the development contract, because that will tell us everything we need to know about whether this is a masterpiece or a disaster.
