Battlefield 6 Nukes XP Farms, Hits Legit Servers in the Crossfire

Well, they finally did it. But maybe they swung the ban hammer a little too hard?

It seems the days of idling your way to glory in Battlefield 6's notorious XP farm servers are officially over. Word on the digital street, backed up by some poor soul doing the rounds on Reddit, is that DICE has finally dropped the nerf hammer. Those servers designed purely to cheese the progression system? They're now reportedly only granting a baseline 150% XP bonus for completing a match, and nothing more.

No more points for spinning in place or existing near a flag. The easy ride is done. About damn time, many would say. But it looks like DICE might have brought a nuke to a knife fight.

Reports are surfacing that this XP restriction isn't just hitting the blatant farm, it's apparently affecting all custom Portal experiences across the board. Yes, even the ones people actually put effort into creating for legitimate fun.

Killing a Fly with a Shotgun

This feels incredibly clumsy. While shutting down the exploit servers was a necessary evil for the game's progression integrity, applying a blanket restriction to every single custom server is like carpet bombing a city to take out one sniper. What about the people creating unique modes, hardcore challenges, or just fun, balanced custom matches?

Portal was touted as this great creative playground, a way for players to build their own Battlefield experiences, a glorious return to form. Now, it seems playing anything outside the official DICE playlists actively hinders your progression compared to before. Why bother crafting or playing interesting custom scenarios if the XP gain is crippled simply because exploiters exist?

The Collateral Damage

It paints a picture of developers either unable or unwilling to implement a more targeted solution. Surely, they could detect servers with absurdly boosted settings or monitor accounts racking up impossible amounts of XP via specific methods? Instead, the legitimate community gets caught in the crossfire. Remember when they promised no Nicki Minaj skins? Maybe focus should be balanced.

This heavy-handed approach risks stifling the very community creativity Portal was meant to foster. If the reward isn't there, players will simply gravitate back to the official modes, leaving the custom browser a ghost town. So much for player creativity.

What Now?

For players chasing unlocks and battle pass tiers, the message is clear: stick to the official game modes. If you need tips on how not to suck, maybe now's the time. Custom Portal servers, regardless of their intent or design, are now firmly in the "just for kicks" category, offering significantly reduced progression rewards. At least Steam players can skip the EA app, right? Small victories.

Maybe DICE will refine this later, perhaps finding a way to differentiate between legitimate custom fun and outright farming. But given the industry's tendency towards broad, simple fixes over nuanced ones, I wouldn't bet on it. The farmers got nerfed, but it looks like everyone else playing in Portal got hit too. Progress?s like everyone else playing in Portal got hit too. Progress?
