Remedy Just Trademarked 'Control: Resonant,' and It Sounds Like a Reveal Is Imminent
The Hiss might be contained, but the hype train has just breached containment.
With The Game Awards just around the corner, the rumor mill is spinning so fast it might take flight. We've already seen leaks for Death Stranding 2 on PC, but now Remedy Entertainment has entered the chat.
According to a report from MP1st, a new trademark for something called "CONTROL Resonant" has been filed in Europe.
It's classified under video game services, marketing, and—crucially—film and TV production. And before you ask, yes, it was filed by "Nordia Attorneys at Law," the same firm Remedy uses for everything. This is legit.
Is This Control 2 or Something Else?
We know Control 2 is in production. It entered full production back in February. Analysts are predicting a 2027 release, which feels like a lifetime away.
So, is "Resonant" the subtitle for the sequel? Remedy usually sticks to numbers (Alan Wake 2), but they aren't strangers to subtitles (Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, American Nightmare). "Resonant" fits the lore perfectly. The Oldest House is all about resonance, frequencies, and weird astral plane vibrations.
But there's another possibility. Remember that deal Remedy signed with Annapurna to make TV shows and movies?
The trademark specifically covers "production of entertainment in the form of TV series and cinematographic films." This could be the title of the Control TV series or movie adaptation.
The Game Awards Theory
The timing is impeccable. Geoff Keighley's show is the perfect place to drop a teaser.
Imagine this: Remedy shows off the Max Payne 1+2 Remake (which we are all dying for), and then hits us with a "One More Thing" teaser for Control: Resonant. Whether it's the game or the show, the crowd would lose their minds.
I'm leaning towards this being the sequel's title. Control 2 sounds fine, but Control: Resonant sounds like a trippy, mind-bending nightmare I desperately want to play.
Whatever it is, keep your eyes peeled on December 11th. The Board is watching.
