The Only Dying Light: The Beast Achievement Guide You'll Ever Need
So, you want to 100% Dying Light: The Beast? You've come to the right place. Grab a wrench, say goodbye to the next 40 to 60 hours of your life, and let's get this done.
Alright, let's get one thing straight. You're here because you're a goddamn completionist, just like me. The good news is that getting every achievement in this game is surprisingly easy; there are no glitched or missable trophies, so you can relax and clean up anything you miss after the main story is over. The bad news is that it's a hell of a grind.
WATCH OUT, THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD!
The Main Squeeze
These are your freebies. Just play the damn story from start to finish and you'll collect this whole set of achievements without even trying. You literally can't miss them.
Free at Last. This is your first achievement. It pops right after you survive the frantic escape from the Baron's bunker and the game's logo splashes across the screen. Welcome to hell.
Experiment on the Loose. You'll get this for taking down your first Chimera, the Reaper. The trick with this overgrown bastard is patience. Just wait for him to charge, dodge to the side like a matador, and then wail on his backside while he’s stunned against a wall. Don’t even bother with the zombie adds he summons at half health; just keep your eyes on the prize.
New Friends. This one unlocks after you clear the zombies out of the Town Hall, kill the Chimera named Defect, and help the survivors get the power back on. For the Defect, use your environment. It's a big boy who doesn't like to let you get close, so light him up with Molotovs or by exploding nearby gas barrels.
Craftsman's Apprentice. Immediately after helping the folks at the Town Hall, they'll give you a weapon mod. Slap that sucker onto one of your weapons and this achievement is yours.
The rest of the story achievements, Largo Embargo, Less Obedient, Enhanced Telepathy, There You Are!, and the finale trophy Glimpse into the Future, will all unlock automatically as you complete the main campaign quests.
A Real Beast
This is where you get your hands dirty. These achievements are all about combat, skills, and creative ways to murder the undead and the unlucky humans who get in your way.
Iconic. The very first chance you get, use a perk point to unlock the Dropkick skill. Find any low-level zombie, soften it up with a few hits, then perform the running jump and double-tap 'E' to send it flying. It’s a series staple for a reason.
Hexakosioihexekontahexa. This just means killing 666 enemies with your beast powers. Every time you fight, that red rage bar under your health fills up. When it's full, you can go berserk and tear enemies apart with your bare hands. Use this power often, especially in big crowds, and you'll grind this one out easily.
Apex Predator. You need to kill a Volatile for this one. These things are no joke and only come out at night or in dark zones. Don't try to fight one in a fair fight out in the open, because you'll lose. The safest way is to lure it to a safe zone's edge. Let the UV lights weaken and piss it off, then unload with fire, explosives, and firearms.
Gunslinger. This one requires a bit of precision. You need to land 6 headshots with a revolver within 20 seconds. Buy a revolver from a shop, find a nice, slow-moving horde of biters, and take your time lining up the shots.
Firefighter. You have to kill 112 enemies with the flamethrower. First, you need to unlock the flamethrower blueprint in the Survivor skill tree. The real challenge here is finding enough fuel. Loot every vehicle and gas canister you see to keep your pyromania going.
I Still Don't Approve of Mindless Fun. A simple, bloody task. Just run over 500 zombies with your vehicle. This is way easier once you've upgraded your car's durability so it doesn't fall apart after hitting three biters.
Post-Apocalyptic Handyman
These achievements are about taming the world around you, one generator and workbench at a time.
We're Safe Here! To get this, you need to activate all 22 safe zones scattered across the map. You'll learn how this works early on at the church: clear the area of enemies and fire up the generator to turn on the UV lights.
And Then There Was Light. Similar to the last one, but this time you need to activate all 9 transformer stations. These are marked on your map and are essential for restoring power to different districts.
Blacksmith. Just repair your weapons 50 times. You'll do this naturally as you play. Open your inventory, find a damaged weapon, and hold 'R' to fix it up with scavenged parts.
Craftsman. This one is a grind. You need to upgrade every single blueprint to its maximum level. You'll need to hunt down a lot of crafting parts and manuals, often found in Dark Zones and as quest rewards.
Ultimate Survivor and Ultimate Beast. These two require you to fully max out your skill trees. For Ultimate Survivor, you need to unlock every perk in the three Survivor branches, which should happen around level 21. For Ultimate Beast, you need to unlock every perk in the Beast tree. You get Beast skill points by killing new, unique types of Chimeras, so you'll need to hunt down at least 13 different variants to finish the tree.
The World's Most Dangerous Garbage Collector
Get ready to hunt for junk, because no apocalypse is complete without a massive scavenger hunt.
Cabinet of Curiosities. This is the big one, requiring you to find every single collectible in the game. Use your Survivor Sense constantly, as it will highlight papers, tapes, and other items you need to pick up.
Know What 'Castor' Means? You'll need to find all 11 of the hidden Castor Woods Beaver statues. These little wooden bastards are tucked away in specific locations, including the Monastery, Town Hall, Art Gallery, Power Plant, St. Valentine Asylum, and a few other key landmarks.
And Don't Forget to Wash Your Hands. For this, you're hunting down all the "Hidden Truths with Spark" podcast recordings, which are found on green tapes. They're often in safe zones or important quest locations, so keep your eyes peeled.
What Happened at the Asylum and Family Picture. These two achievements are tied to finding specific sets of lore collectibles located within the St. Valentine Asylum and the Town Hall, respectively. Just be incredibly thorough when you're exploring these areas, checking every room and desk.
Tying Up Loose Ends
These last few achievements are for cleaning up everything else the world has to offer.
Good Samaritan. This is straightforward: complete every single side quest in the game. None of them are missable, so you can do them at your own pace or clean them up after the main story.
Kylin McCrane. You need to win a gold medal in all of Travis's races. These unlock after you complete his side quest, "Fast and Fortunate".
Crane on a Monument. For a nice view and an easy achievement, find the memorial on the Hill of Heroes and climb to the very top.
Sunday Morning Run. You just need to run a total of 10,000 meters on foot. You will almost certainly get this without even thinking about it.
And there you have it. A long, bloody road to 100%. Now go outside. Touch some grass. You've earned it.
