Escape From Duckov its Mod Support: How to Add More Quack to Your Game
Turns out, the chaotic world of Escape From Duckov wasn't quite chaotic enough. The developers, Team Soda, have officially embraced the modding scene with an extra community post, basically inviting players to inject their own brand of madness into the duck-based shooter that somehow already sold half a million copies.
Team Soda says player feedback and creativity were vital during development, and they see mods as the next step in evolving the game. They believe the community can take Duckov places the devs alone can't envision, making it more dynamic and diverse. A noble goal, let's see how it plays out.
How to Inject Mods Into Your Duck Game
Getting mods running depends on where you bought the game.
Steam Players (The Easy Way): If you're on Steam, it's dead simple. Head over to the Escape From Duckov Steam Workshop, find mods you like, and hit "Subscribe." Steam will handle the download automatically. Once that's done, launch the game, find the 【Mods】 option in the main menu, and enable the ones you want to use. They should load up next time you jump into a game.
Non-Steam Players (The Slightly Less Easy Way): If you got the game elsewhere, you'll need to do it manually. Download the mod files directly from the creator. Then, navigate to your game's installation directory and find the Duckov_Data
folder. Inside that, create a folder named Mods
(if it doesn't already exist) and just dump the downloaded mod files in there. Launch the game, find the 【Mods】 menu, and enable them like the Steam users.
Hold Up – Mods Can Break Shit
Now for the mandatory warning label. Mods are community creations. Team Soda isn't making them, and they aren't vetting them for stability or sanity. Using mods comes with risks, so keep this in mind:
Crashes & Save Corruption: Mods can absolutely cause your game to crash, freeze, or even bork your save files. Back up your saves before installing mods. You can usually find them at
*%appdata%/../locallow/teamsoda/duckov*
. Seriously, do it.Mod Conflicts: Sometimes, two mods just don't play nice together. If your game starts acting weird after installing multiple mods, try disabling them one by one to find the culprit.
Support? Ask the Creator: If a mod breaks something, don't yell at Team Soda. They can't fix mod-specific issues right now. You need to contact the actual creator of the mod for help.
Use mods at your own discretion. Don't come crying if a poorly coded cosmetic turns your duck inside out.
The Modding Scene So Far & A Call to Creators
Despite the game being fresh out of the egg, the modding community is already active. Since the Workshop launched with the game, 92 mods have already been published. Team Soda gave a shout-out to these early creators, encouraging more people to jump in.
Want new features? Unique weapons? Harder challenges? A mod that replaces all gun sounds with quacks? You can probably make it happen. Team Soda has even put together a Mod Development Guide (Link Placeholder - Check Official Channels) for aspiring creators.
They're also offering official support to modders who fill out this form. Perks include potential early access to dev builds and promotion for standout mods on social media.
The Rules: Don't Be a Dick (or a Criminal)
With great modding power comes great responsibility, apparently. Team Soda laid out some ground rules:
No Illegal Shit: Absolutely no content violating laws (think politics, child exploitation, promoting violence/terrorism). Keep it clean-ish.
Don't Cause Drama: No mods severely insulting characters, distorting the story, or designed purely to stir up controversy or real-world disputes.
Respect Copyright: Don't steal assets from other games or use third-party copyrighted material without permission.
No Shady Links/Ads: Mods can't be used to push ads, fundraising, payment requests, or link to unofficial external sites.
Label Your AI: If your mod uses AI-generated content, you must clearly state that.
Violate these rules (especially on Steam Workshop), and your mod might get nuked without warning, potentially losing you your modding privileges.
So, there you have it. Mod support is here, adding another layer to the already surprisingly deep gameplay loop (if you need help with the base game, check out our loot guide or 10 tips guide). Go forth and mod responsibly... or don't, just remember to back up your saves.
