How to Stop EU5 From Asking Your Language Every Single Time It Launches
It's a small bug, but it's the kind of thing that drives you insane.
There's nothing more annoying than a tiny, persistent bug you have to deal with every single time you boot up a game. For a lot of Europa Universalis V players, it's that "welcome" screen: the language selection page, popping up again, and again, and again.
It feels like the game has amnesia, and it's an infuriating extra click when you just want to get to your campaign.
Thankfully, there's a super simple, 30-second fix that seems to permanently solve it. I saw this posted by Rimgoen on the Steam guides, and it worked perfectly for me.
How to Get Rid of It
This is going to sound weird, but just follow the steps. The trick is to not select your language from that first screen.
When the game launches and shows you the language selection page, select English.
Let the game load to the main menu.
Go into the in-game Settings menu.
From inside the settings, change the language back to your preferred one (e.g., German, French, Spanish, etc.).
Restart your game.
That's it.
It's some weird quirk where setting the language from within the game properly saves the choice, while doing it from that initial pop-up just doesn't stick.
It's a dumb bug, but at least it's a dumb fix. Now you can get back to your world conquest without that one extra, annoying click.
