How to Cure Alcoholism in my winter car (Because Tap Water Won't Save You)

I spent my first three hours in My Winter Car furiously drinking from the kitchen tap wondering why my character was still dying, only to realize I wasn't thirsty, I was just going through withdrawal.

If you have noticed a bar called "Problem" creeping up on your UI, you might be confused. Unlike My Summer Car where you just had to pee and drink water, My Winter Car decides to simulate the grim reality of 1999 Finland by making your character a functioning alcoholic. The "Problem" stat is literally your addiction level.

Drinking water does nothing. The only thing that lowers the bar normally is booze. But constantly drinking beer leads to drunk driving, which leads to your car wrapping around a tree, which leads to permadeath. Fortunately, the community found a cure.

The "Mega Sobering" Method

Thanks to some brave souls on Steam like Pisiunas and Jo3ks, we now know there is a hidden mechanic called "Mega Sobering." It is incredibly dangerous because it requires you to edge your character to the brink of death to force a detox.

Here is how you turn that "Problem" bar back into a normal "Thirst" bar.

Step 1: Hit the Red Line

You need to stop drinking alcohol entirely. Let the "Problem" bar fill up until it hits 100% and turns bright red. As soon as it turns red, a hidden death timer starts.

Step 2: The 38-Minute Wait

This is the scary part. Once that bar is red, you have exactly 40 minutes of real-time before you die. You need to wait out 38 minutes of that timer.

Set a timer on your actual phone. Do not guess this. If you wait 41 minutes, your save file is deleted. During this time, do not drink alcohol. Just sit there, watch TV, or stare at the wall.

Step 3: The Detox Chug

Once your 38-minute timer goes off, run to the shower or the kitchen sink. Drink water until the bar turns from red back to white.

This triggers the "Mega Sobering" state. Normally, your alcoholism drops at a rate of 0.001. In this near-death state, it drops at a rate of 7.5. You are basically shock-flushing your system.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

One cycle won't fix you. You need to repeat this process about 4 or 5 times. You will know you are cured when the UI label literally changes from "Problem" back to "Thirst."

Why You Should Fix This Immediately

Living with the Problem stat is a nightmare. It forces you to spend money on beer constantly, and driving on icy roads while buzzing is a death sentence.

Just remember that this cure is risky. You are playing chicken with permadeath. But honestly, it is better than crashing the Sorbett because your vision was double-blurred from trying to keep your stress down. Good luck with the detox.
