A New Alien Game Is Coming, And It Sounds Like 'Tomb Raider' With Xenomorphs

Just when I thought the franchise was safely back in cryosleep, a new leak claims Eidos Montreal is dragging the Xenomorph back out for a survival horror romp that sounds... actually kind of wild.

According to a new report from Insider Gaming, the Alien franchise isn't done with us yet. This project has apparently been bouncing around development hell since 2020, changing names and developers like a criminal on the run, before finally landing at Eidos Montreal. You know, the team behind Deus Ex and that Guardians of the Galaxy game everyone ignored until it was too late. If anyone can fix a mess, it might be them.

LARA CROFT VS. THE XENOMORPH

The pitch is where things get weird. Sources describe the current build as "Shadow of the Tomb Raider with Xenomorphs". I have no idea what that actually looks like, but I am listening. We are talking about a decaying space station where you aren't just hiding in lockers Isolation-style; you are dealing with puzzles, platforming, and actual survival mechanics.

You apparently play as an engineer named Aubrey who uses grappling hooks and magnetic boots to traverse the environment. The idea of swinging over a vent while a Drone drools acid beneath me is terrifying, but it beats walking slowly down another dark corridor. The report also mentions that the AI is being designed to adapt to your tactics, so if you keep trying to cheese the stealth sections, the game is going to learn and punish you for it.

YES, THAT RIPLEY

Here is the curveball: the leaked documents mention "Ripley 8". Yes, the clone from Alien: Resurrection. The report even claims there is an internal hope to get Sigourney Weaver back to reprise the role. Basing a game on the weirdest movie in the franchise is a bold strategy, but I respect the hustle.

We are also apparently dealing with an antagonist named Ryuzo who has turned the station into a fortress, meaning we will be dodging Spec Ops units alongside the bugs. Human enemies are usually the worst part of Alien games, but if they lean into the survival horror aspect rather than turning it into a shooter, it might just work.

DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH

Before you get too excited, put your wallet away. The target release window is 2028. In game development years, that might as well be a century from now. The budget has jumped up to around $75 million, which is respectable but not exactly "GTA money". It is still early days, and considering this project has already died a few times under the codename "Marathon," let's just hope it actually makes it to the finish line without chest-bursting along the way.
