Rainbow Six Siege Hacked: Players Gifted Billions as Hackers Troll Ubisoft Executives
It is chaos in Rainbow Six Siege right now.
In a move that feels less like a malicious attack and more like a digital Robin Hood stunt (with a side of trolling), hackers have breached the game's servers, gifting players billions of credits and hijacking the ban feed to take shots at Ubisoft leadership.
Players logging in today were greeted with a surprise: 2 billion R6 Credits and Renown deposited into their accounts. Alongside the currency dump, incredibly rare items, including developer-exclusive skins, were unlocked for thousands of users.
The Ban Log Takeover
The hackers didn't stop at free money. They seized control of the game’s global ban feed, the ticker that usually announces when a cheater has been caught, and used it to broadcast messages directly to the player base.
Instead of "BattleEye banned User123," players saw bizarre notifications "banning" Ubisoft employees for "toxic behavior." The messages took a darker, more personal turn with specific jabs at Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, including a message claiming he was "on Epstein's island." It is a PR nightmare unfolding in real-time, broadcast inside the game itself.
Ubisoft’s Panic Response
Ubisoft has gone into damage control mode. The in-game marketplace has been completely shut down to prevent the illegal currency from wrecking the economy permanently. The official Rainbow Six Siege Discord has also been locked down to stem the tide of chaos.
In a brief and somewhat vague statement, Ubisoft acknowledged an "incident" and stated that teams are working on a resolution. They have notably avoided calling it a "hack" or "breach" in official comms, likely to avoid legal panic, but the reality is obvious to anyone with eyes.
Don't Spend the Money
It might be tempting to go on a shopping spree with your newfound billions, but prominent community figures are warning against it. Former pro player and streamer KingGeorge has urged players to avoid logging in entirely.
"Do not log into your game, do not spend Renown, do not spend Rainbow Credits," he warned. The fear is that Ubisoft’s solution will be a massive rollback or, worse, automated bans for anyone who spent the hacked currency. If you see 2 billion credits in your account, treat it like radioactive waste: look, but do not touch.
My Take
This is what happens when you build a live-service economy on a house of cards. While I don't condone hacking, there is a grim irony in seeing a company that aggressively monetizes every pixel of its game suddenly watch its virtual economy inflate to infinity in seconds. Ubisoft has a long weekend ahead of them, and I suspect a massive rollback is the only way out of this mess. Until then, maybe go play something offline.
