Embark, i Love You, But We Need to Talk About These Spawns

I love this game. But dying before I can even move my mouse is making me want to uninstall.

Look, I've been singing Embark's praises for weeks. They're doing 99% of things right. They listened and added Duos. They listened and lowered store prices (and I'm still hoping they go a little lower, but it's a great start!). They're building a fantastic game.

This is why this one major issue feels so bad.

The 0.5 Second Raid

I'm talking about the spawns. It's been happening to a lot of people, and this video is a perfect, painful example.

Here's the loop: I spend 20 minutes in my stash, getting my loadout perfect. I'm fully geared, ready for a high-stakes run. I load into a map.

The loading screen fades. My boots hit the ground. A red laser is already on my face.

Before I can even press W, I'm headshot. Down. Dead. My entire 20-minute preparation, my whole kitted-out run, was deleted in less than a second. I had "no chance of even using" my gear.

This Is a 'Trust' Problem, Not a 'Skill' Problem

This is not just a bug. This is a fundamental problem that breaks the core of the game.

The entire point of this genre is "prepare, risk, reward." This spawn issue rips the "risk" and "reward" parts out of the equation and just serves up "random punishment." It invalidates the entire preparation loop.

Why would I bother bringing in my best gear if the game can just delete it on a bad spawn-point dice roll? It's a "why bother?" issue. It just sours the game and makes me want to log off.

A Simple Fix Is All We Ask

This isn't some new, unsolvable challenge. Other games have this figured out.

We just need five seconds of spawn invulnerability. A "fade-in" period where we can't shoot or be shot, just so we can get our bearings and at least have a chance.

Embark, you're listening to everything else. Please, please put this at the top of the list. I love the game, but this one small thing is the most frustrating feeling in your entire, otherwise brilliant, game. I know you'll fix it.
