Meet the 'Shredder': Your New ARC Raiders Nightmare Fuel

I asked for a terrifying indoor enemy. Embark, you maniacs, you delivered.

The new Stella Montis map is live, and it has a brand-new mascot. It's not a giant, screen-shaking boss. It's a small, floating trashcan with a glowing orange eye that will absolutely ruin your day.

It's called the Shredder, and it's a close-quarters nightmare perfectly designed for the tight corridors of the new map.

What Is This Thing?

The Shredder is a small, dark, cylindrical robot that hovers just off the ground. It's basically a floating "eye" whose only purpose is to find you and get in your face.

It doesn't use cover. It doesn't have complex tactics. It just makes a beeline straight for you as soon as it spots you.

How It Kills You

This is where it gets nasty. When the Shredder gets close enough, it will stop moving and begin to charge up.

You have a very, very short window to react.

After it charges, it unleashes its main attack: a 360-degree, grenade-like explosion of... well, shreds. The worst part? The robot doesn't die. It just does its AOE blast and then immediately starts moving again to chase you down for another.

How to Kill the Shredder (and Not Die)

Your first instinct will be to mag-dump it with your SMG or pistol. This is a bad idea.

DO NOT USE LIGHT AMMO. This thing is way tougher than it looks. You will empty your clip, it will not die, and then it will shred you while you're reloading.

This enemy is a resource check. You have two good options:

  1. Bombs: Explosives are your best friend. A well-placed grenade will solve the problem instantly.

  2. Heavy Ammo: Bring a anvil. Bring something with stopping power. You need to kill this thing before it gets its attack off.

Your best tactic is to use its own attack against it. The second it stops moving to charge up, it's a sitting duck. That is your cue to either hit it with an explosive or back-pedal out of the blast radius.

What's in It for You?

If you successfully kill one of these new menaces, you'll be rewarded with new, high-tech loot. They've been confirmed to drop Shredder Gyros and Mechanical Components.

This is the exact kind of high-stakes, close-quarters enemy I wanted for the indoor maps. Good luck, Raiders. You're going to need it.
