Edward Kenway Is Ready To Set Sail Again Thanks To A New Domain Leak
It turns out my earlier funeral for the Black Flag remake was a bit premature.
Ubisoft has been playing a very dangerous game of hide and seek with their upcoming release schedule, and it looks like another one of their secrets just got flushed out into the open. I was just talking about how the Prince of Persia was leading the race, but now Edward Kenway is breathing down his neck. The digital paper trail is starting to look like a goddamn treasure map, and all signs point to a pirate-themed 2026. It is a massive relief to see some actual movement on this project after months of radio silence and depressing financial reports.
The Digital Paper Trail Never Lies
Just when I thought Ubisoft was focusing all their energy on the Sands of Time, a new domain registration popped up to remind everyone that the pirate king hasn't been forgotten. The domain for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was registered through GANDI SAS, which is the same French registrar Ubisoft has used for literally everything from Far Cry to Splinter Cell.
Timing Is Everything
As spotted by @TheHiddenOneAC on X, this domain wasn't just parked recently, it was actually created just one day before the Prince of Persia domain received its big update. This completely destroys the theory that the Black Flag remake was still years away or stuck in the pre-production doldrums. If Ubisoft is securing the digital real estate now, they are getting ready to start the marketing engine. They usually do this when a reveal is imminent, which means the 2026 calendar is about to get very crowded.
The Battle Of The Remakes
We are looking at a classic corporate standoff between a time-traveling prince and a drunken privateer. Both are beloved, both are needed to save Ubisoft's bottom line, and both are now confirmed to have active web domains.
Why This Changes The Schedule
My previous assumption was that the Prince of Persia was the only thing standing between Ubisoft and a total financial meltdown in 2026. But with Black Flag Resynced now having a verified domain, the release calendar is looking a lot more interesting. Ubisoft needs a win, and releasing two of their most beloved titles as "Resynced" or "Remade" experiences is a calculated gamble to keep their shareholders from jumping overboard. I suspect they are planning a one-two punch of nostalgia to distract everyone from their recent AAA fumbles.
What Resynced Actually Means
I suspect "Resynced" is going to be Ubisoft's new buzzword for high-end remasters or full-blown remakes using the latest Anvil engine tech. It is a fancy way of saying they are fixing the jank and making the water look pretty again without having to reinvent the wheel. If they can keep the ship combat exactly as it was but give me modern lighting and a stable frame rate, I will be the first one to hand over my marks.
The King Of The Caribbean Reclaims The Throne
At the end of it all, this is a fucking wild time to be a fan of legacy Ubisoft titles, even if the company itself is currently a burning wreck. We are seeing a pattern where they are securing their classic IPs for a massive 2026 push. Whether the Prince or Kenway gets to the finish line first is anyone's guess, but I am just happy to see some actual evidence that these projects aren't just myths. It is a rare win for the community, and I have a feeling the next few months are going to be very loud as more of these digital breadcrumbs lead us to an official reveal.
