The Garden of Trials is the post-story boss gauntlet in Crimson Desert’s Charting the Unknown DLC, with ten trials of three bosses each, a skill upgrade for every trial and a two-handed lightsaber called the Lumen Longsword waiting once you’ve cleared them all.
That makes thirty boss fights in total, all of them repeatable, and every reward is tied to the bosses in its own trial.
How to get into the Garden
You need Charting the Unknown installed and the game on version 2.04.00 or later, and you have to finish the main quest that ends with “Journey’s End” first. After that, head to the Abyss and fast travel to the Axiom Archive, which sits in the Path of Providence above Hernand. The White Crow there points you toward the Garden, and from then on you pick a trial by interacting with any of the cubes.
How a trial works
Each trial throws three bosses at you for one reward. The trials are built from bosses you’ve already met on your adventures, so the lineup should look familiar. Damiane and Oongka can come along, and that’s worth doing because you can’t eat food to heal once you’re inside a trial. If you die, your companion takes your place until they fall too or the trial gets finished, so go in healed and topped up.
All ten trials
Battlefield Piercers: Gwen Kraber, Half Moon Reaper and Antumbra’s Spear. Reward is Ascend Stab, which cuts the charge time Slash needs.
The Deathbringers: Walter Lanford, The Crimson Warden and Samara, the Sandwatcher. Reward is Ascended Evasive Slash, which you can use mid-skill to chain straight into Evasive Slash.
Marni’s Relics: Marni’s Clockwork Mantis, Mechanicus and Dreadnought. Reward is Ascended Elements, which lowers the Spirit cost of imbuing skills with elements.
Earth-Trampling Giants: The Raging Tempest, Bradie Gu and Mazzul, the Dark Justiciar. Reward is Ascended Lariat, which lowers the Spirit cost of Lariat.
Harbingers of Death: Reed Devil, Crowcaller and Hexe Marie. Reward is Ascended Flight, which lowers the Stamina cost of staying in flight.
The Ironbound Warriors: Saigord the Staglord, White Bearclaw and Cassius Morten. Reward is Ascended Turning Slash, which lowers the Spirit cost of Turning Slash.
Anomalous Beings: Kailok, the Hornsplitter, Sizlek the Insatiable and Master Du. Reward is Ascended Evasive Roll, which lowers the Spirit cost of Evasive Roll.
Earth-Shattering Beasts: Kearush the Slayer, White Horn, Shepherd of Souls and Ogre. Reward is Regeneration, which restores health and Spirit on every successful unarmed hit.
The Soul-Consumed: Awakened Ludvig, Awakened Lucian Bastier and Lava Myurdin. Reward is Ascended Blinding Flash Finisher, which applies certain Abyss gear effects to the finisher.
The Apparition Bearers: Giath, Fortain, the Cursed Knight and Antumbra’s Sword. Reward is Ascended Forward Slash, which lowers the Stamina cost of Forward Slash.
Which trials to do first
Four of the ten rewards cut Spirit costs, namely Marni’s Relics, Earth-Trampling Giants, The Ironbound Warriors and Anomalous Beings. If your build leans on Spirit, those are the trials that make the rest of the Garden easier, and Harbingers of Death and The Apparition Bearers do the same job for Stamina. The lightsaber needs all ten cleared anyway, so the order only matters for which upgrade helps you through the next fight.
The Lumen Longsword
Once all ten trials are done, head to the back pillar to collect the Lumen Longsword, the two-handed lightsaber.
