IGN Accidentally Leaks Cronos: Lazarus Ahead of Summer Showcases
Someone at IGN definitely hit the publish button before reading the PR embargo notes, and it looks like we are heading back to the wasteland much sooner than expected.
Summer showcase season is always a leaky ship, but this one came straight from the captain's quarters. IGN recently updated their IGN Live 2026 lineup article detailing their post-Summer Game Fest plans for June 6-7. Slapped right in the middle of their expected coverage was a direct mention of Cronos: Lazarus. I am pretty sure they did not mean to include that, considering the game literally hasn't been announced yet. (Nothing beats a good old-fashioned copy-paste error to ruin a developer's carefully planned marketing schedule).
Connecting the International Breadcrumbs
This slip-up from IGN is just the final nail in the coffin for this poorly kept secret. Over the last few days, international internet sleuths have been putting the pieces together.
The Chinese Logo Leak: A title logo for CRONOS Lazarus was recently discovered as part of an upcoming event held by the Chinese media platform Jike.
The Polish Investor Tease: A Polish investor site called Strefa Inwestorów reported that Bloober Team's CEO openly teased a Triple-A announcement for Summer Game Fest. He promised they were going to deliver "a large dose of positive emotions" to the market.
Put it all together, and the timeline is obvious. Bloober Team is going to drop a massive reveal trailer during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest, followed by a deeper gameplay dive at IGN Live the very next day.
A Sequel or a Massive Expansion?
So, what exactly is Lazarus? Given that Cronos: The New Dawn just came out in September 2025, a full-blown sequel announcement less than a year later makes absolutely zero sense (unless Bloober Team actually found a time rift to 1980s Poland to speed up development).
The base game was a massive hit, currently sitting at "Very Positive" user reviews. Fans (Including me) absolutely loved the grim mix of Eastern European brutalism and retro-futurist tech. You spent hours as a Traveler, scavenging resources, extracting souls, and desperately burning merging abominations before they could mutate into something worse.
It is almost guaranteed that Cronos: Lazarus is a hefty piece of story DLC. Hardcore fans will immediately recognize the subtitle, the "Lazarus Protocol" is the specific in-game process used to awaken Travelers in the Sarcophagi. It sounds like we are going to get a lot more backstory on the enigmatic Collective, and honestly, I cannot wait. Just make sure your Harvester is fully charged, you are going to need it.
