Destiny 2 Sparrow Racing League Guide: Burning Rubber For Legendary Marks

I am officially retiring my guns to become a full-time professional hoverbike pilot for the final Destiny 2 update.

Bungie actually went ahead and resurrected Sparrow Racing League for the Monument of Triumph send-off. I spent years wishing this mode would return to the rotation, and now I am spending my final days in the solar system violently drifting around corners instead of shooting cosmic gods. The track is fully loaded with a brand new arsenal, a unique armor set, and a massive checklist of Triumphs. I reorganized all the hard data and track secrets below so you do not spend your entire evening crashing into the barricades.

Securing The Finish Line Loot

Before you even worry about mastering the tight turns, you need to know exactly what you are grinding for. The reward pool is heavily stacked, and you can actually attune specific weapons directly from your inventory to force them to drop more often at the finish line.

SRL Weapon Drop Weapon Archetype & Element
Accelerando-42 Fusion Rifle (Strand)
Snipehunt Mk.47 Auto Rifle (Arc)
Veillantif-D Pulse Rifle (Solar)
Vikala SMG4 Submachine Gun (Void)
Terciopelo-4BL Sword (Solar)
Crux Celeritas IV Rocket Launcher (Strand)

You are also chasing a brand new armor set that fundamentally alters your movement mechanics in the standard sandbox. Rocking two pieces activates the Revving Up bonus. This perk builds a charge whenever you move fast, which significantly boosts your health regeneration speed. Once that hits the Fully Revved status, breaking into a sprint immediately grants you a Speed Booster. If you equip four pieces, you unlock Dielectric Drift. Sliding while your Speed Booster is active will automatically jolt any enemy combatant standing in your way.

Surviving The Starting Grid

You can find the actual playlist hiding inside the Crucible Ops menu on your Director screen. Look for the SRL node sitting off to the right side. Clicking it throws you into a six-person lobby. You can run it completely solo or drag your own friends into the queue to publicly humiliate them on the track.

Optimizing Your Ride

Before you waste your time losing matches with a terrible hoverbike, you need to hit the Tower kiosks. Go straight to the Monuments to Lost Light and pull out the Always on Time Sparrow. It hits the same 190 speed cap as everything else, but it comes equipped with the Stealth Running mod. This gives the vehicle way more health so you do not explode when you inevitably scrape against the track walls (which I do constantly).

Track Mastery

When the race actually starts, your entire existence revolves around hitting the boost gates. Nailing a pad keeps your momentum maxed out. Missing one actively penalizes your speed. You also need to relentlessly spam the D-Pad while you are airborne to perform tricks. Landing a trick grants a massive burst of speed. Chain your tricks directly into the boost pads to completely gap the competition.

Knocking Out The Trophy List

Securing your Legendary Marks requires you to clear out the dedicated SRL subcategory in your Journey tab. Earning nine of these completions unlocks the overarching Competitions SRL master triumph. I grouped the specific tasks together so you can plan your track runs efficiently.

Chasing The Podium

You need to secure first place across seven different races to clear all three stages of the Built to Win challenge. You also have Podium Placement, which requires you to earn roughly 100 points by finishing in the top three (taking first or second speeds this up considerably).

For the Racetrack Runway triumph, you need to complete a single race while wearing a full set of the new SRL armor and weapons. Keep in mind that the Accelerando-42 Fusion Rifle is the only primary weapon in this loot pool, so make sure you equip it before loading in.

Speed And Precision

If you want the Gate Lord title, you must complete a single lap without missing a single boost gate while also finishing the overall race in the top three. You can safely miss gates on your other two laps as long as one of them is flawless.

You also have two brutal time trials to clear. Furiously Fast asks you to clock an excellent lap time of under five minutes and ten seconds. Light Speed is much harder, demanding you clear the entire Eternity track (listed as Quantum Circuit in the IX Realms) under that same 5:10 benchmark.

Goofy Distractions

There are a few oddball tasks to cross off while you speed around. Defensive Driver just requires you to finish a race without dying (try to keep your bike away from the cliffs).

SRL Tricky demands you execute 26 tricks in a single race and finish in the top five. You have to repeat this seven times to max out the tiers, so just relentlessly spam the D-Pad off every tiny ledge. Finally, the Don't Mess with the Honk challenge asks you to hit Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox to sound your horn right after defeating an enemy. Just flatten a hostile Vex or Cabal wandering on the track and mash the horn button immediately afterward to claim your reward.
