Destiny 2 Monument Of Triumph Guide: Unlocking The Hidden Endings

Bungie buried the true finale of a ten year saga behind a checklist of triumphs, but I have the exact roadmap to save you the headache.

The Monument of Triumph update is serving as the final curtain call for Destiny 2. I was ready to uninstall the game and clear up my hard drive until I realized there are actually two final cinematics hidden deep in the endgame. One delivers a genuinely heartfelt farewell to the Vanguard, while the other drops a massive tease for whatever Bungee might be cooking up next. (Potentially Bankruptcy..) I spent my time untangling the vague menu requirements so you can skip the guesswork and jump straight to the emotional payoff.

Knocking Out The Required Triumphs

Before you go hunting for secret portals, you have to do some paperwork. Both cutscenes are locked tightly behind specific challenges in your menu. I highly recommend taking care of these chores first before you even bother loading into a destination.

The Big Blue Checklist

To unlock the primary goodbye cinematic, you need to secure a triumph called Me and You, Big Blue. Getting this checked off is incredibly tedious. You must complete seven separate Triumph Completion nodes from completely different categories inside the Monument of Triumph tab. You can track your overall progress toward this goal by checking the Immortal Title screen.

If you plan your play sessions correctly, you can knock these out passively while clearing other seasonal objectives. I suggest pairing this grind with your weapon catalog cleanup. You can use my Destiny 2 new Exotic catalysts locations guide to figure out which activities you should farm to double dip your progress.

The Sortie Send-Off Tour

Accessing the second, much darker cutscene requires you to have the Big Blue triumph finished alongside the Sortie Send-Off triumph. You can find this one under the Stories category inside the Allies section.

This challenge is basically a solar system sightseeing tour. You need to travel to seven specific rendezvous spots marked on your map to have a quick chat with various NPCs.

Rendezvous Name Destination Location NPC Contact
The Moth Speaks Queen's Bailey, Savathun's Throne World Luzaku
The Day After Sojourner's Camp, EDZ Lodi
Heart's Desire The Confluence, The Dreaming City Queen Mara Sov
Escape Sentience Beyond, Europa Lodi
Burned Away Lost Fuselage, Arcadian Valley, Nessus Ikora Rey
God of Vengeance Enduring Abyss, Moon Eris Morn
Eternity for An Eternity Xur's Treasure Hoard, Eternity Lodi

After you check off all seven conversations, you need to fly back to the Tower and speak with Lodi one final time to officially claim the triumph.

Triggering The Final Goodbyes

Once your menu work is complete, you can actually access the narrative payoffs. Be warned that I am going to drop heavy story spoilers for both scenes below.

A Quiet Night With Zavala

Load into the Tower Courtyard and run straight to the central Tenet podiums. Look against the left wall right between the Tenet of Bravery and the Tenet of Devotion. You will find a glowing crystal sitting next to an auto rifle. Interact with the rifle to trigger a "Wait Until Evening..." prompt.

Before you click that button, make sure your Guardian is wearing something presentable. You are heavily featured in this cinematic, and ruining the emotional climax of a ten year story by wearing a glowing neon chicken mask is a mistake you cannot undo.

The scene puts you face to face with Zavala. He talks about how the night is finally quiet and peaceful. He reflects on his long journey and the heavy grief that has burdened him. Because his Ghost, Targe, died during The Final Shape, Zavala is living his last life. He formally retires and passes the Vanguard title over to Ikora Rey. The three of you watch the sun come up over the Traveler.

When the leaders leave, your Ghost notes that nothing ever stays the same and asks what is in your future. Your Guardian responds that it is for you to decide together right before a sudden cut to black.

Since you are already standing in the Tower plaza anyway, you might want to stop by the surrounding kiosks. I put together a Destiny 2 Legendary Marks farming guide to help you clean out their final inventories. Meeting The Winnower

If you want the sinister teaser, open your Director and travel to The Sludge in the EDZ. Head straight north toward the Dark Forest until you stumble across a portal. Walk through it, follow the linear path, and interact with the second portal you find to roll the tape.

This cutscene features a conversation with Lodi, but he is completely possessed by the Unknown Voice. If you keep up with your lore, you know you are speaking directly to The Winnower. The entity tells you to take a breather, enjoy your libations, and let the vigor seep into your bones. It finishes by telling you to "get hungry" before relinquishing control of Lodi. It is an ominous setup that leaves the door wide open for whatever comes next. (If Bungee comes to their senses…)
