Mouse P.I. For Hire Achievement Guide: A Masterclass in Paranoia and Save Scumming
Now before you waste hours of your life repeating the opening acts, you need to understand that this game has zero mission replayability.
Let me paint a picture for you. You are eighteen hours deep into the gritty, monochromatic underworld of Mouseburg. You have blasted your way through mobsters, gathered a deck of baseball cards that would make a collector weep, and upgraded your arsenal to a terrifying degree. Then, you realize you forgot to pick up a single comic strip in the Vaudeville level. In a modern game, you would just hop into chapter select. Not here. Mouse P.I. For Hire refuses to hold your hand, offering absolutely no mission replayability and no New Game Plus.
If you want the 100% completion, you need to play smart, keep your head on a swivel, and treat your manual save files like hard currency. I am going to walk you through exactly how to avoid the pitfalls that put so many detectives six feet under their own frustration.
The Golden Rule: Save Often and Talk to Everyone
You get 50 manual save slots. Use them. I recommend dropping a fresh manual save at the start of every single mission, and another right before you return to the P.I. Office hub.
The most critical thing to remember is the point of no return. Once you accept the mission titled "Jack Squat", you are locked out of the main hub forever. Do not touch that mission until your evidence board is full, your weapons are fully upgraded, and you have cleaned out the local merchants.
Always exhaust dialogue at the office. Talk to everyone until they start repeating themselves. If you do not bother to chat with the locals, you will miss out on the Side Jobs entirely, which completely locks you out of multiple achievements. If you need a refresher on basic investigation tactics, also check our beginner guides for maximizing your time in the hub.
The Complete Achievement Roster
You are looking at 34 total achievements. I have broken them down into clean, scannable categories so you know exactly what you are hunting for during your single playthrough.
Story and Progression (Unmissable & Bugged)
The Platinum Falcon / Hidden: Acquire all other trophies. The final reward for your suffering.
Tricks of the Trade: Unlock all special abilities. This is handed to you as you progress the story.
Tip of the Cheeseberg: Finish the game. Case closed.
Burdens of Blue Betty: Find the key clues in the Blue Betty case.
Tinsel Boulevard: Wrap up the Blue Betty case entirely.
Secrets of the Shrew Shortage: Find key clues in the Shrew Shortage case.
Smoked Cheese and Mirrors: Wrap up the Missing Magician case. (Currently facing bug reports)
Misfortunes of the Missing Magician: Find key clues in the Missing Magician case. (Currently facing bug reports)
Our Lesser Brothers: Wrap up the Shrew Shortage case. (Currently facing bug reports)
Missable World Actions
Quint’s Delight: During the "Saltwater Cambozo" mission in Wallop Bay, walk up to the giant dead shark hanging near the diner and kick it until it drops a license plate.
Herr Flick of the Wrist: After picking up "The Bookkeeper" mission, go to the P.I. Office hub. Find the BMP Agitator near the Little Big Bar entrance and punch him in the snout.
Combat and Environmental Kills
You will naturally earn most of the combat trophies just by playing aggressively, but a few require specific setups.
Boom Town: Kill 20 enemies by throwing or kicking explosive barrels. Kicking is riskier, so grind this out early when enemies are weak.
Firestarter: Blast 20 enemies by shooting explosive barrels. Do not mix this up with throwing them.
Hole-y Trinity: Kill 3 enemies with one single shot. Lure a group next to a barrel and shoot it, or use a fully upgraded Boomstick charged shot on weak melee grunts.
Goud’em!: Kill 5 enemies within 10 seconds.
M-m-muenster Kill!: Kill 10 enemies within 20 seconds. Wait until Bandel's Laboratory where the game throws massive hordes at you to knock this out easily.
Spike-D 16 TONS: Crush 20 enemies with heavy objects falling from the ceiling. Keep your eyes pointed upward in the Tinsel Ave level to shoot down suspended pianos and stage lights.
The Collectible Grind
Tracking down paper products in Mouseburg is going to take up a massive chunk of your playtime. If you miss a paper out in the wild, the game occasionally puts it up for sale at the ammo store in the P.I. Office, but you do not want to waste your hard earned cash buying back issues.
Paper Person: Collect 5 issues of the Mouseburg Herald.
Cover to Cover: Collect 10 issues of the Mouseburg Herald.
Extra! Extra!: Collect all issues of the Mouseburg Herald.
Comic Relief: Collect 5 comic strips.
Extremely Graphic Novel: Collect 10 comic strips.
The Prequel: Collect all comic strips.
So, Whodunit?: Pin every single clue you find to your evidence board at the office.
Weapons and Schematics
You need 63 weapon schematics to fully upgrade your arsenal. The developers placed over 80 schematics throughout the world, so check every tailpickable safe and you will have plenty of room for error.
Guns, Lots of Guns: Collect all non-corporate-locked weapons. These are handed to you naturally or found directly on the main path.
This is My Boomstick!: Upgrade one single weapon to Tier 3 at Tammy's shop.
We’ll B.A.N.G., ok?: Upgrade every single upgradable weapon to Tier 3.
Everybody Loves Rayguns: Unlock the X1 D-Mousifier. You buy this from the Spike-D vending machine using 20 Prize Tokens won from the baseball minigame.
Side Jobs and The Baseball Hustle
Wait until you have collected a decent deck from exploring the world and have at least 1500 coins sitting in your wallet before grinding the minigame. It costs 50 coins to play, and losing is just throwing cash into the trash.
Starter Deck: Collect 5 Baseball Cards.
Babe Got Bat: Collect 10 Baseball Cards.
Card Shark: Collect all Baseball Cards.
Pocket Aces: Win exactly one Baseball Cards match.
S’all in the Cards: Win 30 Baseball Card matches. Rely on high Strength cards when batting, and high Fielding cards when pitching to freeze your opponent in their tracks.
Dime Novel Sleuth: Complete 5 side jobs.
Real Deal Gumshoe: Complete every side job in the game. Make sure you clear these before the "Jack Squat" point of no return.
