Reanimal Secret Ending Guide - All Coffin Locations
If the standard ending of REANIMAL left you staring at your screen in confusion, that is because you missed the actual conclusion hidden behind a scavenger hunt.
In classic Tarsier Studios fashion, the "true" ending. and the Friends Reunited achievement, Is locked behind finding five specific coffins scattered throughout the game. Miss one? You are out of luck. You have to find them all in a single playthrough. It is tedious, it is easy to mess up, and frankly, I’d be annoyed if I hadn't already done the legwork for you.
Here is where to find every coffin to unlock the secret ending.
Coffin 1: The Derailment (Chapter 1)
You can grab this one early, but it is easy to walk right past it. After you repair the handcar and ride it across the bridge, stop immediately. Do not head into the cave yet.
Hop off the handcar and look for a secondary set of tracks heading southeast. Follow them to find a derailed, abandoned train car. Enter the car, walk through to the other side, and you will find the first coffin sitting on the tracks. Interact with it to knock the first one off your list.
Coffin 2: The Flooded Alley (Chapter 3)
This one is in the water section, and you will need the harpoons first. Once you have them, head back toward the large hotel area. Instead of blowing up the mine in front of the hotel to progress, hang a right down the flooded alleyway.
You will see two mines blocking a secret passage on the left. Use your harpoons to blow them sky-high. Drive your boat through, dock on the small patch of land, and enter the glowing yellow door. Head down the stairs to find the second coffin waiting for you.
Coffin 3: The Hidden Cave (Chapter 3)
You aren't done with Chapter 3 yet. Shortly after grabbing the second coffin, head back out to the open water near the cannon island.
Drive your boat around the cannon island, hugging the cliffs until you find a secluded area with a hidden cave entrance. Head inside. About halfway through, a water enemy will try to ruin your day. Harpoon it and keep moving. Dock at the beach at the end of the tunnel to find the third coffin.
Coffin 4: The Orphanage Basement (Chapter 4)
This one is tucked away at the very end of the chapter. You will reach a room in the Orphanage where your friend has been lowered into a hole on a rope.
The game wants you to turn the wheel to pull them up. Don't do it yet. Instead, walk toward the camera (the screen) and check the left side of the room. There is a door hidden there. Go through it to find a secret room containing the fourth coffin. Open it, then go save your friend.
Coffin 5: The Hospital Bunker (Chapter 7)
The final coffin is in the hospital section, right after the sequence with the exploding soldiers. You will run through a hallway dodging explosions. Once the chaos settles and you see a wheelchair, stop.
Turn around and backtrack. Look for a hole that was blown into the wall on your left. It reveals a heavy bunker door. Turn the handle to open it, climb down the ladder, and you will find the fifth and final coffin at the bottom.
If you have opened all five, finish the game. After the credits roll, stay put. You will get the secret cutscene that actually explains what the hell just happened.
