Take-Two Subpoenas Microsoft and Discord to Unmask GTA 6 Leaker Cyberleek

Take-Two filed federal subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord this week, demanding account records tied to whoever's been leaking GTA 6 footage under the name Cyberleek.

What Take-Two is actually asking for

Two filings, submitted August 20 in the Southern District of New York. Microsoft has to hand over account IDs, registration and login IPs, phone numbers, linked Xbox and Google accounts, device identifiers, and any OneDrive files referencing GTA, Rockstar, or Cyberleek. Discord gets the same treatment for every account that touched a list of named servers since June 1. Both have until September 4.

That's not a takedown. Takedowns pull a video down. This is Take-Two trying to put a legal name to a person.

The guy who got named for nothing

One of the servers on Discord's list belongs to Matthew "Matt" Judge, the streamer known as DarkViperAU. He found out he was in a federal filing the same way everyone else did, by reading it. He says his editors' server has nothing to do with any of this: "There aren't even any clips of the leaks in either of my Discords." Being listed in a subpoena isn't an accusation, it just means someone in his server crossed paths with someone who crossed paths with Cyberleek since June.

What actually happens if they catch him

Nintendo caught Gary Bowser running Team Xecuter's public face. The number attached to his name is $14.5 million, $4.5 million restitution plus a $10 million civil judgment, on top of 40 months in prison. He's paying it back at 25 to 30 percent of whatever he earns, for as long as it takes. Take-Two's IP is worth a lot more than a modchip.

The part that undercuts the manifesto

Cyberleek's whole pitch is anti-corporate: digital pre-orders bad, paywalled DLC bad, the usual. Every leak also comes stapled to a memecoin plug, and Take-Two's stock has dropped about $2.8 billion in market cap this week because of the footage, already climbing back some. Somebody's profiting off tanking a company's stock while claiming to fight for consumers. Pick one.

GTA 6's official Netflix reveal lands August 27, six days out.
