Where Winds Meet Mobile: How To Play The Wuxia Epic On The Go

If you have been enjoying Where Winds Meet on PC or PS5 since November, get ready to ruin your battery life.

The open-world Wuxia RPG is officially making the jump to mobile devices next week. While the idea of cramming a game this gorgeous onto a phone screen sounds like a recipe for a molten battery, the developers are promising a full conversion of the experience.

For those of us who want to grind martial arts mastery while sitting on the toilet, here is the breakdown of the release.

Release Date & Pre-Registration

The mobile version officially drops on December 12, 2025.

You can already pre-register on both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. Doing this usually nets you some launch rewards, so if you plan on playing, you might as well click the button now.

The Download Size "Lie"

There is some confusion circulating online about the file size, so let's clear it up.

If you check the iOS App Store right now, it lists the download size at 3.7 GB. Do not let this fool you. That is almost certainly just the launcher or the initial installer. This is a massive open-world RPG with high-fidelity assets. The actual game size is going to be significantly larger once you open the app and it starts patching.

I have also seen screenshots floating around X (formerly Twitter) claiming to show the full pre-download size. According to verified sources, these are fake. There is currently no pre-download available for the mobile version in the West.

Do not clear space based on a blurry screenshot from a random account. Wait for the official numbers, and maybe delete a few hundred memes from your camera roll just to be safe.

Crossplay & Cross-Progression

The best news is that the ecosystem is fully unified.

The mobile version supports full cross-progression. This means you can log in with your existing PC or PS5 account and pick up exactly where you left off. All your gear, martial arts, and quest progress will carry over seamlessly.

There is a catch, though. You need to make sure you link your accounts properly before you start playing on mobile. If you accidentally create a new character on the mobile server before linking, you might create a headache for yourself.

It also features crossplay, so mobile players can group up with PC and console players.

However, be warned: PC players currently cannot disable crossplay, while PS5 players can. It is very likely mobile players will have a toggle to opt-out of crossplay if they don't want to get destroyed by PC players with mouse and keyboard precision.

The Verdict

It is rare to see a port this ambitious land so close to the main release. Usually, we wait months or years for the mobile version. If they can pull off the optimization, Where Winds Meet might just replace Genshin Impact as my go-to "waiting for the bus" game.

Just remember to bring a power bank. You are going to need it.
