Where Winds Meet Guide: Don't Buy The 50,000 Coin Book (It's A Trap)

Money is hard to come by in Where Winds Meet. You grind, you explore, and you save every coin. So the last thing you want to do is spend your life savings on a book that literally breaks your legs.

I learned this the hard way so you don't have to. While exploring the Spirit Light Market, you might run into a merchant named Ni Laoshan. He runs a shop called "The Buried Tomes."

The first red flag is that he hangs upside down from the ceiling like a bat. The second red flag is that he sells a book called "Highest Combat Secrets" for a whopping 50,000 coins. If you buy this expecting to become a god of war, you are going to be very disappointed.

The "Highest Battle Secrets" Scam

Ni Laoshan is a fraud. If you buy the "Highest Combat Secrets" manual, the game teases you with a tooltip that asks, "Do you dare to try?"

If you click yes, you don't learn a legendary move. You get a debuff called Banished IV.

This isn't a joke. Your character suffers from "internal energy backlash." You get messy hair, red eyes, and you enter a confused state where you lose control of your body. Worse, you start dealing damage to yourself every time you attack.

Basically, you paid 50,000 coins to make the game unplayable.

To fix it, you can't even go to the normal NPC doctors. Yao Yaoyao at the clinic can't help you. You have to go online and beg a real player who has taken the Healer career path to bandage you up. It is humiliating.

There is another book he sells called the "Unknown Old Book" for 12,500 coins. This is a gambling mechanic. Most of the time you get nothing. But if you are lucky, you get fragments for the "Sword Horizon" skill. It is only worth it if you use the Strategic Sword style.

The Real Prize: Phantom Steps

If you are in the Spirit Light Market and actually want a useful skill, ignore the upside-down scammer and go look for "Phantom Steps."

This is a Mystical Skill that grants you the "Mirage" status. It reduces your dodge stamina cost by 40% and makes you undetectable for a short time. It is absolutely god-tier for PvP.

How To Find The Dungeon

To get it, you need to head southeast from the Spirit Market. Look for a Divinecraft dungeon entrance (it looks like a hole in the ground).

Once you drop in, you have to navigate a platforming section. You will be jumping across wooden crates suspended in the air. Watch out for the collapsing floors. If you fall, you get injured (which, again, requires a healer).

Eventually, you will hit a dead end with some explosive crates. Use fire arrows to detonate them and open the path. This leads to a timed section where you have to parkour quickly before the environment kills you.

At the very end, there is a chest. Open it and you get Phantom Steps. No gold required. Just a little bit of sweat and maybe some fire arrows.

So save your 50k. The only thing Ni Laoshan is teaching you is a lesson in financial literacy.
