A Zelda-Themed Switch 2 Might Be Coming, and the Details Just Got a Correction
A leaked Nintendo Switch 2 console and Pro Controller tied to The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary just had one of its details walked back.
Early chatter around this hardware pointed toward something built specifically around Ocarina of Time. That detail didn't hold up. So scratch the Ocarina-specific mental image if you'd already built one. Both the console and the matching Pro Controller are described as Zelda themed overall, pulling from the series as a whole rather than one particular game, which is a broader and honestly more flexible starting point for whatever Nintendo actually shows up with.
Betting on Gold
No official image yet, so this part is a guess. Gold's the obvious pick, since that's the color Nintendo keeps reaching for on Zelda hardware.
A Price Increase Sitting in the Background
A broader Switch 2 price bump is expected at some point, and the timing question hangs over all of this. Land this special edition after that increase goes into effect and upgrading from an existing console could cost more than people are currently expecting. Trading in a current Switch 2 typically doesn't cover the full price of a new one either, so that gap is worth keeping in mind before getting attached to a specific budget.
Worth noting, too, that Nintendo's kept a pretty steady handle on Switch 2 supply since launch, and the current Zelda-colored special edition hasn't seen its resale price climb much. That track record makes a scalper frenzy on this one feel less likely, though "less likely" isn't the same as "won't happen."
An EU Battery Fix, Confirmed
This part's on firmer ground. Nintendo has confirmed a battery-related hardware revision coming to some Switch 2 units in Europe later this year. Given that timeline, this Zelda edition would likely ship in the EU with that revision already built in.
On regions, only the cheaper Switch 2 sold specifically in Japan carries any lock. Everywhere else, including wherever this edition ends up, shouldn't have that restriction.
Nothing here is confirmed. Gold, Zelda themed, probably landing right around a price shift, that's the picture right now, and it could look completely different the moment actual photos show up.
