Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Guide: Hitting Rock Bottom For The Davy Jones's Locker Trophy

Grab a deep breath because I'm about to show you exactly how to survive a plunge to the absolute bottom of the Caribbean.

Edward Kenway swims through a vibrant underwater shipwreck toward a treasure chest in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Chasing full completion means tracking down 49 different achievements, or an even 50 if you're hunting the Platinum on a PlayStation console. Most of these pop just by engaging with the story. The 'Davy Jones's Locker' trophy, however, asks you to abandon the main path entirely and hunt down the absolute lowest point on the world map. Before you waste hours drowning Edward in random corners of the ocean trying to guess where that is, I tracked down the exact spot.

Preparing for the Plunge

You can't just jump off the Jackdaw anywhere and expect to hit the ocean floor. You need the Diving Bell first. Play through the campaign until you hit the 22nd main quest, 'Diving for Medicines', during Sequence 06. Finishing that mission unlocks shipwrecks across your map and gives you the gear you need to survive down there.

Requirement Details
Prerequisite Quest Sequence 06: Diving for Medicines
Location Name The Black Trench Shipwreck (Castillo de Jagua region)
Map Coordinates 184, 425

Surviving The Black Trench

Sail up to the northwest corner of your map and park at The Black Trench. Drop the bell and get into the water. From the drop zone, orient yourself southwest and swim toward the giant sunken ships. Look for jellyfish and a massive rock wall on your left side to confirm you're heading the right way.

A quick warning before you get too comfortable. A shark actively patrols this exact area. Keep a close eye out for the white threat indicator filling up on your screen. If you're curious about the voice behind Edward's panicked gasps while dodging predators down here, check out my breakdown of the AC Black Flag Resynced voice cast. Sneak past the wreck, but don't dive into the chasm yet. Stop at the air barrel attached to the end of the shipwreck and top off your oxygen. Trust me, you need a full tank for this next part.

Claiming The Trophy

From your fresh air supply, look for the massive trench cutting through the zone. Dive straight down and west. Keep pushing deeper until the ocean floor finally renders in. You're looking for a specific piece of scenery. A smashed diving bell resting in the dirt marks the lowest point on the map.

Here's where things get annoying. The achievement trigger is notoriously finicky. Don't just swim near the bell and expect a pop. You have to physically scrape Edward against the sea floor. Swim tight circles around the broken bell and literally drag yourself through the sand. If the game stubbornly refuses to pop the notification, abandon the dive, head back to your ship, and drop down again. A quick reset usually forces the game to realize you're actually at the lowest point.
