I hate it when a digital pirate opens their mouth and my brain instantly derails trying to figure out what HBO show I saw them in last week. Like most massive industry releases hitting the market, this remake is packed with serious screen talent. You will hear these folks screaming over cannon fire and scheming in dingy taverns, and the disconnect between their digital faces and their actual real world acting credits can be super distracting.
Before you pause your game in the middle of a hurricane to scroll through random internet wikis, I tracked down the entire roster for you.
The Heavy Hitters of the Caribbean
You are going to spend dozens of hours with the core crew, so putting a name to the face early on saves a lot of mental energy.
Matt Ryan returns as Edward Kenway, and frankly, the game would feel wrong without him. If you watch comic book adaptations, you know him as John Constantine across basically every DC television project, including Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash. He also played FBI agent Mick Rawson in Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.
Stepping into the boots of Charles Vane is the legendary Ralph Ineson. The man has a voice that could shatter concrete. You probably recognize his gravelly tone from Robert Eggers films like The Witch and The Northman, or maybe as Amycus Carrow from the Harry Potter series. He is taking over the gaming space lately too, voicing Cidolfus in Final Fantasy 16 and Lorath Nahr in Diablo 4.
Then you have Mark Bonnar chewing the scenery as Edward "Blackbeard" Thatch. Outside of his pirating duties, he is a staple of British television, playing Max in Guilt and Duncan Hunter in Shetland. Gamers will definitely recognize him as King Ceolwulf in Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Townsend in Battlefield 1.
Familiar Voices in the Background
Even the supporting cast is loaded with heavyweights. Sarah Greene plays your eventual quartermaster Anne Bonny, and if you spent any time playing The Witcher 3, you know her as Cerys an Craite. She also killed it as Hecate Poole in Penny Dreadful.
Nolan North shows up as Desmond Miles because it is physically impossible to release an action game without him. You know him as Nathan Drake from Uncharted, The Penguin in the Batman Arkham titles, and David in The Last of Us.
If you are wondering about the new crew members, there is a slight catch. The voice actors for Lucy and Deadman are strangely missing from the official credits right now.
