You're All Too Good. Embark Nerfs 'ARC Raiders' Event After We Almost Beat It in Hours

Congratulations, Raiders. We were so goddamn efficient at grinding that we broke the event.

So, the "Breaking New Ground" event kicked off today. This is the big community grind-a-thon where we all donate materials to unlock the new Stella Montis map.

I, like many of you, immediately started dumping all the junk I've been hoarding. It was amazing. The community came together, and in minutes, we had already cleared 11% of the total progress. I was sitting there, admiring my contribution and my newly earned Merits, feeling pretty good.

Then, an update rolled. I refreshed my screen.

The progress bar was back at 1%.

We Were Just Too Fast

For a second, I was furious. But my Merits were still there, so my personal progress wasn't lost.

It turns out, we were just too good.

The community's response was so massive and so fast that we were on pace to unlock the entire Stella Montis map in just a few hours.

Embark, in a quiet panic, hit the emergency brake.

Embark's Response: "Go to Bed, Please"

A developer replied to the community confusion with a pretty reasonable explanation. They wanted Raiders all over the world to actually get a chance to participate.

Which... makes total sense. There is nothing more deflating than logging in after a long day at work, excited for the new event, only to find out that the no-lifers (like me) already beat the entire thing while you were commuting.

So, they've clearly tweaked the numbers, nerfed our progress, and reset the bar back to 1% to give everyone a fair shot.

This is the most "Embark" problem ever. They built a community so engaged that we're speedrunning their global events by accident. I'm not even mad. It's hilarious.

Now, back to the mines. We've got 99% to go. Again.
