Deltarune Chapter 5 Guide: How to Beat Pink

Before you burn through your entire inventory trying to slice Pink down to zero health, you need to realize that violence will get you absolutely nowhere.

Cinematic Deltarune illustration of Kris, Susie, and Ralsei overlooking a vibrant pink forest and mountains at sunset.

Toby Fox loves hiding absurdly elaborate encounters behind vague puzzles, and the secret boss of Chapter 5 is no exception. Pink is essentially Mad Mew Mew from the Undertale universe, and she forces you into a bizarre hybrid of a dating sim and a bullet hell nightmare. Just like the pacifist solutions in my Guide on How to Beat Orange and Green, you cannot deal conventional damage here. You have to fill her Doki Meter by flirting, all while surviving some of the most punishing attack patterns in the game.

Unlocking The Pink Door

To even reach Pink, you need the MysteryKey. You can buy this from the shop in the Cliffs for 10 Pink Coins. If you are running low on currency, you need to go hunting first. Check out my Deltarune Chapter 5 Guide: All 19 Pink Coin Locations to get your wallet right.

Once you have the key, warp to the top of Flower Castle. Head left from the boss rush area and tackle the platforming section by sword bouncing across the moving flowers. After the second platforming gap, drop down the middle of the room and hit the green pinwheel. This triggers a slow descent where you have to slash blue flowers to clear a path. You will land directly in front of the Pink Door. Grab the fast travel point right next to it so you never have to do that awful drop again.

The Best Armor And Items

Pink relies heavily on Cat and Puppet style attacks. Pure defense numbers will not save you here. You need items that provide flat percentage reductions against her specific damage type.

Equipment Benefit And Strategy
Dealmaker Reduces damage by 40 percent. Put this on Ralsei to keep him alive for TP generation.
Mannequin Reduces damage by 20 percent. Kris is the only one who can wear this.
TrueTie Reduces damage by 20 percent. Fuse the FrayedBowtie and TennaTie to craft it.
NetskieHat Grants a flat 6 DF. Use this to fill any remaining armor slots. Do not use the ShadowMantle here.

For your inventory, I’d honestly just recommend to pack the SpinCake and a few ReviveMints. You can also use Susie's ShareFood ACT to generate DokiDoki points instead of healing. The SpinCake grants 3 points, but hilariously, the completely useless DogDollar item also gives 3 points. I guess that is just inflation at work.

TP Management And The Doki Meter

Pink actively sabotages your Max TP capacity throughout the fight. Your main priority is collecting the pink hearts that spawn during her attacks to raise your cap back up.

My go to strategy is defending with Kris and Susie while casting LovelyBoy with Ralsei. This bumps your Max TP by 14 per cast. Don’t waste your turns on standard flirts that only give a single point. Keep your team safe, farm your meter up to 40, and drop a MegaFlirtX. If you manage to hit 80 TP, unleash the GigaFlirt. Whenever Pink initiates her concert attack, park your Soul directly under her and move at the absolute last second. Her projectiles turn into healing hearts when they hit her sprite.

Phase Breakdown And Quiz Answers

Every time you fill the Doki Meter, the combat pauses and you enter a dating sim quiz. Wrong answers will punish your entire party.

Phase Number Mechanics And Quiz Answers
Phase 1 Your movement is locked to a grid. Dodge the cats and bombs. Answers: Yes, Yes, No.
Phase 2 Pink splits into a body and a ghost. Pick the answers with double meanings that satisfy both. Answers: Stinky fish, Tin can, Letter down.
Phase 3 This is a brutal maze segment. Dodge the DIE boxes. There is no time limit, so rest on the pink dots and plan your route safely. No quiz here.
Phase 4 The meter fills automatically. Just survive the onslaught to reach the final quiz. Answers: I got scared, Anyone else's, Love us both.

The Secret Rewards Room

Answering the final question correctly ends the fight. Pink hands over the Shadow Crystal and unlocks the room behind her arena.

Inside, you will find a shop offering six exclusive pieces of equipment, but you can only purchase three per playthrough. Each piece costs 3 Pink Coins and 100 Flowery Dollars. Choose carefully based on your playstyle. Aqua's knife is completely useless if you are running a pacifist route, but Blue's weapon drops the TP cost of Pacify down to zero. Grab Flowery's equipment from the corner before you leave, and you are officially done with the hardest encounter in the chapter.
