Destiny 2 Guide: The Greasiest Crucible Weapons For PvP Dominance

Jumping into a competitive match without a mathematically optimized loadout is just asking to be sent back to the orbit screen.

Three Destiny 2 Guardians wearing ornate Trials of Osiris armor sets engage in a competitive Crucible PvP match.

Destiny 2 has a massive and overwhelming arsenal. Before you waste three hours getting stomped in Trials of Osiris, you need to understand that raw stats dictate every single engagement. Just because a gun easily chews through alien mobs does not mean it translates to a competitive environment where every fraction of a second matters. The Monument of Triumph update shifted the meta heavily, and I spent my time tracking down the absolute greasiest weapons you can equip to secure a victory.

The Hand Cannon Hierarchy

Hand Cannons are the undisputed bread and butter of the Crucible. If you want to peek shoot and dominate mid range duels, you need to hunt down these specific frames.

The 140 RPM Kings

I have cycled through countless 140 RPM Hand Cannons, but four specific guns sit permanently in my inventory.

Eyasluna is my absolute go to weapon for this archetype. It features butter smooth handling, and if you combine the Zen Moment and Precision Instrument perks with the right barrel and magazine, you can hit 98 Stability. That makes it arguably the best feeling primary weapon in the entire game.

If you prefer an aggressive push, you need Rose. It is a Lightweight Frame, meaning you get an inherent movement speed bonus just for holding it. I highly recommend farming for Slideshot and Explosive Payload to bypass its notoriously low Range stat. Spare Rations plays very similarly to Rose. The Season 29 version brings phenomenal perks like Slideshot, Keep Away, Opening Shot, and Eye of the Storm. It suffers from low range, but the snappy handling compensates perfectly.

When you get tired of grinding for Legendary god rolls, just equip Ace of Spades. It remains a top tier Exotic that will win you fights as long as your aim is steady.

Weapon Name Archetype Optimal TTK Setup
Modified B-7 Pistol 180 RPM Dynamic Heat Hand Cannon Requires the Overclocked Heatsink perk and a Weapons stat of 177 to 180. Drops the Time To Kill to a blistering 0.67 seconds.
M-17 Fast Talker 900 RPM Dynamic Heat SMG Requires Delicate Tuning and Tap the Trigger. With a high Weapons stat, this also hits a 0.67 second Time To Kill.

Heavy Hitters And Outliers

The Igneous Hammer is still the undisputed king of the 120 RPM category. A max range roll hits hard from 40 meters out. My personal favorite roll pairs Rapid Hit with Elemental Capacitor on an Arc subclass to fix the sluggish handling. Earning one requires surviving the absolute sweat fest that is Trials of Osiris, so try not to let the toxicity get to you. Alternatively, keep an eye out for the Mos, a 120 RPM Hand Cannon rolling with Adagio that is currently terrorizing the community.

If you want something truly unique, you need to look at the Modified B-7 Pistol. This 180 RPM Dynamic Heat Hand Cannon can easily three tap opponents without relying on complicated kill chaining perks.

Automatic Shredders

If you prefer to hold down the trigger and track your targets, you need a weapon that manages its own recoil.

Submachine Guns

Shayura's Wrath is a 600 RPM Precision Frame that dominates close quarters. The base Handling is completely awful, but you can fix that by rolling Perpetual Motion. Combine that with Tap the Trigger and you will win duels the moment you pull the trigger.

For a faster fire rate, hunt down the M-17 Fast Talker. When properly built with Delicate Tuning and Tap the Trigger, this 900 RPM monster initiates fights with 100 Range and 75 Stability.

Auto Rifles

When you need to contest Hand Cannons at medium range, the Giver's Blessing is a fantastic 720 RPM Rapid Fire choice. You can farm this gun on Kepler, and a roll with Perpetual Motion and Zen Moment makes it shoot like a laser beam. If you cannot get a good drop, just pull Hard Light from your Exotic collections to get a very similar tactical feel.

Special Weapons And Exotics

Primary ammo can only take you so far. When you need to instantly delete an opponent, you need to rely on the heavy hitters.

Fusions And Pulses

The Monument of Triumph update gave the Vex Mythoclast a massive buff, securing its spot at the absolute top of the meta. This 400 RPM raid Exotic melts entire teams once the damage ramps up. The alternate Linear Fusion Rifle mode turns it into a deadly sniper, and if you run a Warlock with Rain of Fire, you become practically unstoppable.

For Pulse Rifles, Outbreak Perfected is the safest pick on the market. A crafted 540 RPM version with Rapid Hit or Headseeker shoots steady streams of fire, and the Nanite swarms easily soften up anyone standing too close to your target. If you prefer Legendary options, the Darkest Before from the Prophecy dungeon is incredible. Roll it with Surplus and Wellspring, and pair it with the Fallen Sunstar helmet for maximum Arc ability uptime.

Shotguns And Snipers

The Inquisitor is my definitive pick for the best Slug Shotgun in the sandbox. Range and Handling are the only stats that matter for shotguns, and this gun naturally excels at both. Hunt for Threat Detector and Opening Shot. If you hate aiming slugs, grab a pellet frame like Felwinter's Lie or Matador 64 with those exact same perks.

When it comes to sniping, Cloudstrike has no competition. Hitting a clean headshot with this 140 RPM Exotic drops a lightning strike that will instantly wipe out anyone holding hands with your target.

The Greasiest Community Builds

If you browse the community forums, you will find some deeply sweaty setups that bypass traditional gunplay entirely.

If you are struggling to win one on one gunfights, the Lumina and Boots of the Assembler combination is a nightmare to play against. Running this with the Ember of Benevolence fragment gives you constant healing rifts. You can just hide in the back of the map, buff your teammates, and collect free assists.

Others prefer abusing poison mechanics. Osteo Striga, Le Monarque, and Thorn consistently frustrate opponents by stopping health regeneration and ticking away damage behind cover. If you prefer long range annoyances, the Jade Rabbit guarantees a clean three tap from anywhere on the map, while Graviton Lance and Jotunn remain the ultimate tools for catching people off guard. You also cannot ignore the Golden Tricorn perk, which is currently fueling some of the fastest time to kill builds in the entire sandbox.
