Fortnite Guide: Everything You Need to Know About Gummy Hour
If you logged in today and saw an ominous countdown ticking away in the lobby, prepare your loadouts for absolute extraction chaos.
Fortnite Chapter 7 is completely consumed by the new Runners season right now. The hunt for rare Sprites has everyone acting completely feral over loot drops, and Epic Games is clearly enjoying the panic. Instead of letting the community grind in peace, they just slapped a massive timer on the main menu to signal the start of Gummy Hour.
If you remember the old Power Hours, you know they usually vanish before you even get a chance to warm up your aim. This weekend is a completely different beast. Epic is running a massive, extended event designed to flood the economy with rare drops. I dug through the event details to help you prepare for the absolute meat grinder that is about to hit the island.
The Official Gummy Hour Schedule
Knowing exactly when to drop is half the battle. Epic Games is running two distinct blocks for this event, and each one lasts for a full two hours. This is a massive window to farm resources and hunt down those elusive Sprite variants if you manage to avoid getting sent back to the lobby early.
The primary Gummy Hour kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, June 20. To make sure you do not miss the initial wave of drops, I converted the start and end times across the major global time zones
The Sunday Encore
If you happen to be busy when the first block goes live, you have a safety net. Epic is running an Encore presentation on Sunday, June 21. This second block begins at 9:00 PM ET and runs straight through to 11:00 PM ET. It features the exact same modifiers, giving you a fresh opportunity to ruin someone else's extraction right before the weekend ends.
The Gameplay Modifiers
Before you pick a fight over a chest during these windows, you need to completely rewrite your combat strategy. Epic is heavily modifying the core mechanics to make everyone significantly harder to kill.
Every single person dropping from the battle bus starts the match holding a Self-Revive and the Mythic Limitless Seven Sliders. If you snipe someone from across a field and don't immediately push their position, you are completely wasting your time. They will just stand back up and slide away.
To make things even more frustrating, your health will automatically begin regenerating the very second your shields break. This fundamentally changes close-quarters combat. If you crack someone's shield, you have to secure the elimination instantly. Giving them three seconds to hide behind a wall means they are already healing back up to punish you.
The entire goal of this event is to hoard and extract. The massive increase in Gummy Sprite spawn rates means you should be looting aggressively rather than camping in a basement. Combine that with the double multiplier on Sprite Dust from extractions, and you have the perfect environment to skyrocket your seasonal progress.
If you get tired of sweating over gummy bears and want to secure something you can actually brag about, you can pivot your strategy. Check out my Fortnite Galaxy Sprites Locations Guide to find out where the ultimate cosmic collectibles are hiding on the map. Just keep your head on a swivel during the event, use your Limitless Seven Sliders to escape terrible engagements, and make sure you hit the extraction points before the timer runs out.
