Fortnite Shock Rocks Guide: Locations, Stats, and Triple Jump Mechanics

If you see someone casually hopping through the sky like a low-gravity platforming protagonist this week, your game is not glitching.

Glowing purple Fortnite crystals emitting a mystical aura and floating energy shards on a dark rocky base.

The Fortnite 41.10 patch dropped a massive wrench into the active movement meta for Chapter 7 Season 3. Alongside a fresh roster of companions shaking up our inventory slots, the introduction of Shock Rocks adds a ridiculous layer of vertical mobility to our standard survival options. These glowing crystals grant temporary gravity-defying traits that can bail you out of a terrible engagement or send you soaring straight over an opponent's defensive wall.

Before you waste your matches tearing down random residential houses in hopes of finding a stack, you need to understand where they actually drop and how to deploy them correctly. I spent time testing their launch velocity on the island to figure out exactly how to integrate them into your combat rotations.

Where to Find Shock Rocks

You do not have to rely entirely on blind luck to build up a healthy supply, but you will need to adjust your initial drop strategy if you want a reliable stack before the final circles shrink the playing field.

The items drop as standard floor loot and pop out of regular chests, but hunting them down in random suburban houses is an incredibly slow process. Before you compromise your pathing, you should target the high-density spawn networks scattered across the landscape. The highest concentration of raw rocks sits directly at the center of the map around the Zero Point. You can easily spot this giant floating orb directly north of Sinister Strip. If you walk along the surrounding river banks and search the sandy terrain under the orb, you'll find plenty of loose crystals ripe for the taking. You can also regularly find them scattered around the active Extraction Sites where everyone fights over rare pets.

If you are having a terrible run and the central river networks are completely picked clean, you can use companion traits to bypass the environmental search entirely. In my Fortnite Gone Wild event sprites guide, I broke down how the new Aura Sprite handles resource generation. When you have the Aura Sprite active in your companion slot, hitting a specific damage threshold against your opponents automatically rewards you with a fresh Shock Rock charge, letting you refresh your mobility tools right in the middle of a gunfight.

How to Abuse the Triple Jump Buff

Once you locate a crystal, you can choose to consume it right away for an instant physics update, or gather it to place inside an active inventory slot. A single backpack slot can comfortably hold up to six rocks at a time.

Item Attribute Mechanical Value / Condition
Maximum Stack Size Holds up to 6 crystals per inventory slot
Movement Modifier 3 mid-air jumps with scaling vertical launch power
Passive Protections Complete immunity to fall damage while active
Primary Loot Locations Chests, Extraction Sites, and Zero Point river banks

Activating the Visual Effects

Crushing a rock triggers the unique Shockwave effect for a limited time, giving you an immediate low-gravity trait. You'll know the effect is working because three mini crystals will start circling your character's torso like a weird digital solar system.

Launch Pacing and Rotations

While the effect remains active, jumping in mid-air launches you upward and forward. Pressing your jump button up to two additional times while you're still airborne lets you chain the movement into a massive triple jump. Every consecutive press scales up your vertical velocity, meaning the third hop launches you significantly higher and further than the first. It is an incredible tool for covering massive distances across the landscape, letting you rotate across the Chapter 7 Season 3 map without needing to hunt down an available vehicle.

Defensive Fall Protection

The verticality is great for offense, but the passive safety trait is the real reason this item deserves a spot in your active loadout. Consuming a rock grants you total immunity to fall damage for the entire duration of the crystal effect.

If you get trapped at the top of an unstable ramp or someone shatters the base of your platform, you can just step off the edge without panicking. It functions as an excellent insurance policy against gravity, allowing you to jump down from the tallest structures on the island to escape a losing fight without worrying about dying.

Securing the High Ground

On the offensive side of the meta, these crystals completely destroy traditional build fights. Because the item is brand new, opponents won't anticipate you scaling an entire defensive tower in under two seconds.

Spamming your mid-air jumps lets you quickly climb right past their walls, giving you an easy angle to catch them off guard from above. If you manage to combine this absurd vertical mobility with an instant-kill option like the one covered in my Fortnite Mythic Goldfish one-shot guide, you can effectively drop directly onto an unsuspecting squad and eliminate them before they can even process your approach. Grab a stack from the central rivers, keep your jumps tightly timed, and abuse the vertical velocity to put the pressure on any escaping foes.
