Forza Horizon 6 Fast Travel Guide: Teleport Across Japan For Zero Credits

Playground Games finally killed off the single most tedious collectible grind in the history of the franchise.

If you spent any time with older entries in the series, you probably remember the absolute headache of scouring hedgerows and rooftops just to stop the game from charging you thousands of credits for moving around your own map. In the previous game, you had to cough up a small fortune for a specific piece of property and then hunt down 50 individual fast travel boards to bring your teleportation bill down to zero (a task that made me want to pull my hair out). For your trip to Japan, all of that baggage has been thrown straight into the bin. Fast travel is completely free, unlocked right from the moment you hit the open world, and requires absolutely zero credit investments.

Shifting Map Mechanics

The developers completely overhauled how you get around the world, replacing the old collectible wall with a straightforward exploration rule. I noticed immediately that the game rewards you for simply driving rather than making you hunt down discounts.

Feature Forza Horizon 5 Forza Horizon 6
Base Credit Cost Charged per jump until discounted Completely free from the start
Property Requirement Required to unlock free movement None required for map travel
Collectible Grinds 50 Fast Travel Boards to smash Completely removed from the game

The Exploration Catch

There is still a slight catch to this new setup. You can't just pick a random mountain peak and instantly materialize there on your first day. To unlock a fast travel destination, you have to physically clear the fog of war by driving down that specific stretch of road at least once.

When you look at your world map, keep a close eye on the coloring of the road network. Valid destinations will show up in white, orange, or red. If a road is still colored grey, it means you haven't touched it yet, and the map cursor won't let you jump there (no matter how much you try to force it). The moment your tires hit that asphalt in free roam, it permanently flips to a visitable color on your next map check.

How To Execute A Fast Travel

Teleporting yourself across the map takes only a few seconds once you've done the initial legwork. I recommend dedicating your first hour or two to exploring major regional mainlines to build up a permanent network of shortcuts.

Step By Step Navigation

Before you try jumping across the country, pull over to the side of the road. You can't open your transit options while actively participating in an event, so make sure you finish or quit your current race before trying to move.

  1. Pause the game and open up the world map located directly under your Campaign tab.

  2. Move your cursor over any valid road segment, event start line, unlocked player house, or festival outpost.

  3. Press the designated teleport button. It is the X button on an Xbox controller, the X key on a keyboard, or the Square pad on a PlayStation controller.

  4. Confirm the pop-up prompt by selecting Yes. A quick loading screen will play, and your vehicle will immediately drop into the new location ready for action.

Valid Target Locations

You aren't just limited to dropping your car onto random asphalt segments. The game lets you target any discovered point of interest on the map, meaning you can jump directly onto race registration lines or straight back to your home base. If you want to see what homes are actually worth jumping to for their passive bonuses, you can read my Forza Horizon 6 housing guide to plan your next major property purchase.
