Forza Horizon 6 Guide - How To Maximize Your Garage Space
Before you waste hours searching the menus for a physical room expansion, you need to know exactly how the housing system actually works.
If you've been hoarding cars at a rapid pace, your starter garage is probably feeling a little claustrophobic right now. You want to show off your rarest finds, but the game doesn't exactly hold your hand when it comes to interior design. I spent plenty of time messing with the prop editor and housing menus, so I can show you exactly how to squeeze every ounce of utility out of your properties.
The Reality Of Physical Space
Let me rip the band-aid off right now. You can't expand the physical footprint of your garage in Forza Horizon 6.
The floor area is completely fixed regardless of how much money you spend or which property you buy. There is no magical renovation upgrade that pushes the walls out. What you can do is manipulate the interior layout to display more vehicles, which is the only real way to maximize the space you already own.
Unlocking Car Display Slots
While you can't make the room bigger, you can force it to hold up to four vehicles at once. The game actually hands you all three extra car slots by default, but you have to know how to activate them.
Placing The Locators
To actually see those extra cars, you need to manually add Car Display Locators to your layout. Once you place those locators inside your garage using the customization tools, the extra slots become fully functional.
The Important Properties
While you start with Mei's house, there are eight total houses in the game. If you want to make absolutely sure all your display options are covered, two specific properties are worth your attention. You unlock them by completing Discover Japan objectives to earn specific stamps.
Buy the Hakusan Mountain Lodge the second you have the cash. That permanent 10 percent credit bonus is easily one of the most valuable perks you can grab early on, completely independent of whatever garage setup you run.
Customizing Your Interior
If you want your storage space to look like a high-end showroom rather than a concrete box, you have full control over the layout.
The Free Camera Editor
Head to any of your owned houses, navigate to the Customizable Garage tab, and select Customize Garage. This throws you into a free camera mode where you can drop props directly from the library. Every item costs credits, and you have a hard prop limit, so you can't just spam neon signs everywhere. If you make a mess, you can hover over individual items to manually delete them, or head to the Browse & Manage menu to select Empty My Garage for a completely clean slate.
Community Designs
If you lack interior design skills, you can just steal someone else's hard work. In the Browse & Manage menu, select Browse Community Garages. You can download custom layouts built by the community, but you still have to foot the bill for the props used in the design. It costs credits to actually apply the layout to your own space.
Displaying Cars And Visitors
To actually pick which rides sit in your newly decorated space, hit the Display Cars option and pull your favorites straight from your collection. Finally, if you want to show off your design to the world, make sure you flip the Visitor Permission toggle from closed to open.
