Heartopia Inventory Guide: How to Stop Living Like a Digital Pack Rat
If you are tired of dropping rare fish on the ground because your pockets are full of rocks, it is time to have a serious talk about Ka Ching.
I spent my first three hours in Heartopia trying to figure out why I was essentially a professional fruit collector with the carrying capacity of a toddler. It is the classic cozy game trap. They give you a world full of shiny things to pick up and then give you about ten slots to put them in. Before you know it, you are standing in a field of mushrooms having a mental breakdown because you found a rare mineral but your bag is 90% common twigs. You do not have to live like this. There is a specific blue cat-robot thing on the edge of town that holds the keys to your freedom, but she is going to make you work for it.
Finding Ka Ching and Expanding the Bag
Ka Ching is your one-stop shop for inventory upgrades, and you can usually find her hanging out on the outskirts of the city center. She is not exactly hiding, but if you are just wandering around the forest, you are going to miss her. Look for her general store icon on the map. It is the only place that matters when your screen starts flashing that "Inventory Full" warning.
The first expansion she gives you is actually free. It is a classic dealer move to get you hooked. After that, she stops taking charity and starts demanding a very specific currency called Fulfillment Stars. You cannot just throw gold at this problem. You have to actually be a productive member of society if you want more pocket space.
Farming Fulfillment Stars
You get Fulfillment Stars by completing Resident Requests. These are those little daily chores that pop up next to your mini-map. Most of them are mind-numbing tasks like bringing someone a couple of apples or catching a specific common fish, but they are the only way to get those stars. I recommend knocking out at least five of these every single day. If you ignore the residents, you are going to be stuck with a tiny backpack for the rest of your life. It is a grind, but it is a necessary one.
The 60% Discount Strategy
Do not just run to Ka Ching the second you have five stars. This is where most people mess up and waste their resources. Ka Ching runs a rotating discount in her shop that can go as high as 60% off. One day an expansion might cost 25 stars, and the next day it could be significantly cheaper. Check her shop every time you are in town. If you see that discount tag, buy the upgrade immediately. If you pay full price, you are just punishing yourself for being impatient.
Space Saving 101: The Jam Trick
While you are grinding for those stars, you can actually save a ton of space by stop being a raw resource hoarder. If you have stacks of apples, oranges, or berries, you are wasting slots.
Head over to Massimo’s place and turn those fruits into jam. Four raw fruits become one jar of jam. Not only does this condense your inventory, but the jam sells for way more gold than the raw fruit ever would. It is a win-win situation. You clear up three slots and you get a bigger paycheck at the end of the day. I also suggest putting any furniture you aren't using directly into your house. It still counts as "stored," but it doesn't take up a precious slot in your bag.
