Heartopia Weather Guide: Meteor Showers, Rainbows & Doris

Most farming sims use rain to make you feel cozy, but Heartopia uses weather to gatekeep the best items and the weirdest vendor in the game.

If you have been ignoring the skybox to focus on your crops, you are losing money. The weather system in this game is not just pretty lighting effects. It dictates when you can find rare fish, when specific resources spawn, and most importantly, where the elusive secret vendor Doris decides to hide.

I have spent way too much time chasing clouds and driving cars into rainbows to figure out exactly how this works. If you want to stop missing out on Starfall Shards and exclusive recipes, you need to start acting like a meteorologist. Here is how to master the forecast.

How to actually check the Weather

You would think looking up at the sky is enough. It isn't. You need to use your technology. Open your Smartwatch and click the small weather icon to the right of the time.

This pulls up a 5-day forecast. Do not ignore this screen. Some events like Meteor Showers or specific rainstorms only last for a few hours. If you log in without checking, you might spend the entire duration of a rare event watering your flowers like a chump while everyone else is collecting rare materials.

Rainbow Days

If you see a rainbow icon, drop what you are doing. This is the most profitable weather state in the game.

During a Rainbow Day, you get a "Rainbow Blessing" buff near your minimap. This isn't just a feel-good sticker. It gives you extra resources while collecting and boosts your chances for high-quality fish and bugs. If you were planning to grind resources, wait for this weather.

You also need to look for Rainbow Bouquets. These grant collection bonuses. If you are fishing, this is the only time you can catch the Golden King Crab or the Large Pearl Mussel.

Where is Doris? On Rainbow Days, the secret vendor Doris is hiding in plain sight. You need to drive your car directly under the rainbow. I know physics doesn't work like that in real life, but in Heartopia, the end of the rainbow is a physical location. You will find her there with pink hair and a grey outfit.

Rain and Snow

These are your "free labor" days. Rain and Snow automatically water your crops. If you see precipitation, do not touch your watering can. You are wasting energy. Use that extra time to go fishing or hunt for the secret vendor.

Where is Doris? When water (frozen or liquid) is falling from the sky, Doris hangs out in the Art District. She changes her outfit to match the mood, usually sporting a deep blue sweater and beanie.

This is the best time to buy her exclusive cooking ingredients. She sells Colored Sugar for 150 gold. Buy all of it. The color changes every time you visit, and different sugars unlock different "Roll Cake" recipes. You want these recipes because they give massive bonuses to your cooking hobby progression.

Meteor Showers

These are the rare ones. Meteor Showers do not happen often, so if you see one on the forecast, set an alarm.

During the event, Starfall Shards will spawn across the map. They look like standard mining nodes but have a distinct colorway. You need to run around and smash these with your pickaxe immediately.

If you collect 60 shards, you get the "Stardust" collector badge and a title. More importantly, these shards are a currency.

Where is Doris? During a meteor shower, Doris moves to Onsen Mountain. She won't be selling her usual sugar and recipes here. Instead, she trades furniture. You can buy meteor-themed decor using the Starfall Shards you just mined. It is a nice cycle of "break rock, buy furniture made of rock."

Summary of Doris Locations

Since she refuses to stay in one spot, here is your quick cheat sheet so you don't have to drive aimlessly around the map.

  • Rainbow Day: Under the Rainbow (literally drive to the base of it).

  • Rain/Snow: The Art District.

  • Meteor Shower: Onsen Mountain.

Pay attention to your watch. The weather in Heartopia changes fast, and Doris doesn't wait for anyone.
