Marvel Rivals Leak: Green Goblin, Thanos, and the Season 10 Roadmap

You might want to grab a massive grain of salt because a newly circulated rumor points to Green Goblin and Thanos crashing the arena very soon.

A team battle in Marvel Rivals featuring characters like Hulk, Storm, Doctor Strange, and Groot using their superpowers in an ornate Asgardian-themed arena.

I spend an unhealthy amount of time digging through the deepest trenches of the internet to see what the rumor mill is churning out. A recent post floating around the leak subreddits caught my eye, mapping out potential hero drops all the way through Season 10. According to a thread highlighted by user @spidermanias on X, the leaked data supposedly originates from March 2026.

The track record of the original source makes things interesting. They accurately nailed Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur as the Season 8 representatives before the official reveals fully confirmed them. The leaker apparently had early access to season trailers, noticing the Season 8 teaser heavily alluded to Cyclops and Moon Girl rather than explicitly showing Devil Dinosaur right away. That hesitancy gives the whole thing a tiny shred of credibility, though you should still manage your expectations carefully.

The Rumored Roster Expansion

Before you start theory-crafting your new main, I want to outline the exact timeline of who is supposedly dropping into the game over the next few months. Here is the breakdown based on the leaked details.

Season Leaked Characters
Season 8 Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur.
Season 9 Green Goblin alongside either Captain Marvel or Sister Grimm (Nico Minoru).
Season 10 Thanos and an unrevealed second character.

Norman Osborn Takes Flight

Green Goblin is the absolute standout name for Season 9. If you spend any time contesting control points, you know exactly how oppressive aerial superiority gets. Adding Norman Osborn on his glider could completely shatter the current vertical meta. I can already picture how a glider-based moveset would function in the game. You already know the development team can handle hybrid flight and ground combat because of Angela. Bringing that same fluidity to a villain tossing pumpkin bombs sounds like an absolute nightmare for anyone stuck playing a grounded support.

I personally hope for a dual-stance character where you ride the glider for high mobility and then hop off to brawl on the ground. Visually, capturing that terrifying Alex Ross artwork vibe is exactly how I want to see him modeled. I would also love to hear Steve Blum voice him, considering he already handles Venom perfectly.

There is a wild theory floating around that his ultimate ability turns him into the massive monster from the Ultimate comic run. I highly doubt they will go that route. Standard Norman Osborn is the classic silhouette you expect. If he is designed as a Vanguard or a highly mobile Duelist, looking up to see him raining fire on your head is going to send you straight back to the spawn room.

Magic And Cosmic Firepower

The Season 9 leak gets a little muddy regarding the second character. The source claims it is either Captain Marvel or Sister Grimm. Nico Minoru, known as Sister Grimm, relies on blood magic and the Staff of One. Translating her unique spellcasting into a competitive shooter framework sounds like a massive headache for the developers. Her comic gimmick is that she cannot cast the exact same spell twice. I expect they will streamline her kit heavily for gameplay purposes. If you enjoy complex control characters who manipulate the battlefield, she might be exactly what you need.

Captain Marvel is the safer bet. A flying brawler with energy blasts fits right into the established combat roles. If she drops alongside Green Goblin, Season 9 is going to be incredibly punishing for anyone who cannot aim upward. You will need to rely heavily on hitscan heroes to keep the skies clear.

The Mad Titan Arrives

Then there is Season 10. Thanos. Just reading the name should make you sweat. Balancing a character who is famous for snapping half the universe out of existence is going to be a monumental task. I do not expect him to have the full Infinity Gauntlet right out of the gate. He will likely rely on brute force, functioning as a massive Vanguard, and maybe utilize one or two stones for area denial or crowd control.

I highly recommend approaching this Thanos rumor with extreme caution. Putting a boss-level entity into a standard competitive roster usually results in a character who is either hilariously overpowered on day one or nerfed heavily by week two. Prepare yourself for a frustrating ranked experience if he launches in an overtuned state. You do not want to be the one caught in his crosshairs when he inevitably dictates the meta.

The State Of The Rumor Mill

I need to pull you back down to earth for a minute. You should not buy into this leak completely. Claiming a character is coming after official silhouettes have already dropped is an easy way to fake credibility. The original poster started making these claims only after Cyclops and Devil Dinosaur were essentially guaranteed. The ambiguity between Captain Marvel and Sister Grimm also sounds exactly like guessing based on blurry teaser outlines spotted in a background building on a new map.

I am desperate for more villains. The hero side of the roster is getting crowded. Letting you step into the shoes of Green Goblin or Thanos is exactly the kind of sinister shakeup this game needs to keep your attention. I will be keeping my eyes glued to the official announcements, but for now, keep practicing your anti-air aim. You might just need it.
