Its partner skill transforms the little fox into a literal flamethrower that melts enemy health pools at close range. It also acts as a portable space heater, keeping you safe from environmental freezing on cold nights.
For general map traversal, aim to capture an Eikthyrdeer around level 10. Its saddle is a bit pricey to craft early on, but it's entirely worth the grind. It moves at high speeds and features a double jump that makes climbing steep cliffs incredibly easy.
If you want a true combat powerhouse early, look out for Chillet. It spawns as a Level 11 Alpha right near the start area in the Windswept Hills. Capturing it gives you early access to a highly mobile mount that inflicts bonus Dragon damage on your own attacks while you ride it.
