How to Farm Ancient Technology Points Fast in Palworld

Normal level-ups only get you so far before the technology tree locks you out of the actual fun stuff.

Palworld gameplay featuring the character Zoe Rayne riding the Pal Grizzbolt as it wields a massive minigun against a scenic mountain backdrop.

If you want an Egg Incubator, a Grappling Gun, or a Pal Essence Condenser, you have to spend Ancient Technology Points. The game doesn't hand these out for picking up rocks or catching a dozen basic birds. If you've been grinding out levels using the tricks from my Palworld 1.0 beginner guide starter tips, you probably noticed your ancient point pool is completely empty. That's because these points are tied entirely to your combat performance. You have to hunt down specific targets across the archipelago to get your hands on this currency. I mapped out the absolute fastest methods for farming these points so you can actually unlock your endgame gear.

Hunting Tower Bosses

If you need a massive burst of points immediately, Tower Bosses are your primary targets.

These massive structures dominate the skyline, and they house the hardest encounters in the game. Defeating a Tower Boss yields a massive five Ancient Technology Points. The catch? You only get this payout the very first time you beat them. You can't just farm the Tower of the Rayne Syndicate over and over again.

Zoe and Grizzbolt are your first real hurdle here. They sit at level 10, but they hit incredibly hard if you show up in cloth armor. I highly recommend building a Crossbow and bringing a solid Ground-type Pal to exploit Grizzbolt's electric typing. If you're tackling the newer 1.0 content, you can grab another five points by clearing out the duo waiting at the edge of the world. Check out my Palworld sunreach feybreak tower guide to get exactly what you need to survive that specific encounter.

Farming Alpha Pals and Bounty Targets

Tower Bosses give the biggest payout, but there are only eight of them. For a steady income, you need to hunt Alpha Pals.

Alpha Pals are massive versions of regular creatures that roam the open world or hide inside specific dungeon instances. You can spot them on your world map by looking for circular portraits. The first time you defeat or capture an Alpha Pal, the game hands you one Ancient Technology Point.

The difficulty scales wildly here. The level 11 Chillet near the starting zone is a total pushover, while the late-game dragons will absolutely send you back to the respawn screen if you aren't prepared. Just like the towers, the payout only happens once. If you can't remember who you've already defeated, check your map. A small checkmark appears over their portrait if you've already claimed the point.

You can also hunt down Bounty NPCs. These are human targets marked by a purple bust icon on your map. They function exactly like Alpha Pals: kill them once, get one point.

The Endless Grind: Ancient Technical Manuals

If you've managed to clear the entire map of every single boss and bounty, you might think you're completely locked out of earning more points. Thankfully, Pocketpair included a slow, RNG-heavy workaround.

You can find items called Ancient Technical Manuals hidden inside high-tier treasure chests. These manuals grant points when consumed. The drop rate is completely abysmal, so don't expect to max out your tech tree in an hour. Your best bet is to farm the chests located deep inside dungeons or out on the restricted Wildlife Sanctuary Islands.

What Should You Unlock First?

You have a massive list of options, but a few of these ancient blueprints completely break the game wide open.

Technology Unlock Required Level
Egg Incubator Level 10
Grappling Gun Level 12
Pal Essence Condenser Level 14
Breeding Farm Level 19
Aquatic Construction Kit Level 66
Wing Pack Level 80

The Egg Incubator and the Breeding Farm are absolute non-negotiables. You need both of these immediately to start hatching high-tier workers. If you aren't sure how to optimize your gene pool, I put together a massive database over in my Palworld best breeding combos guide to get you started. The Grappling Gun makes base building and cliff climbing infinitely less frustrating, and the Pal Essence Condenser lets you sacrifice useless duplicate catches to permanently buff your favorite combat monster. Spend your points on those core facilities first, then you can worry about saving up nine points for the endgame Wing Pack.
