Palworld Guide: How To Farm High Quality Pal Oil Without Going Broke
Crafting your first real firearm feels great right up until you realize how much High Quality Pal Oil the game expects you to hoard.
Once you push into the mid-game, Polymer becomes a constant bottleneck. You need massive quantities of oil to craft it, and running around aimlessly hoping to find the right spawns is a fantastic way to waste your evening. Before you start pulling your hair out over missing materials, you need a targeted farming route. The game gives you three solid options to build your stockpile: active hunting, passive ranching, or outright buying it.
The Best Early Hunting Routes
If you are still in the early stages of your save file, your best targets are Woolipops. You can find massive herds of them roaming the highlands past the Ravine Entrance waypoint, which sits just west of the Hill of Beginnings. They go down quickly, making them a very reliable early source.
Once your damage output improves, you want to shift your focus to Mammorests. You get significantly more High Quality Pal Oil per kill, but they put up a serious fight. Mammorests are incredibly weak to fire damage, so bring a Tanzee Ignis or any heavy-hitting Fire Pal to melt their health bars. If you want to contribute to the fight directly, bring a Crossbow loaded with Fire Arrows. Conveniently, you can find plenty of Mammorests in the exact same area as the Woolipops.
Mid-Game Farming Hotspots
As you uncover more of the map, you can access much denser spawn zones for oil-dropping Pals.
If you head to the Anubis Alpha Boss area in the desert around coordinates (-89, -123), you will find the dunes crawling with Dumud and Digtoise. Both of these drop the oil you need. Alternatively, you can fast travel to the Mount Obsidian Midpoint at (-478, -392) and sweep the surrounding lava pools for groups of Flambelle.
My personal favorite active farm requires a bit of setup but yields incredible results. Head over to the Sealed Realm of the Thunder Dragon at (-194, -352). This area is completely overrun with Relaxaurus. If you bring a Cryolinx in your active party, its Dragon Hunter Partner Skill artificially boosts the number of item drops you get from defeating Dragon Pals. Since Relaxaurus fits the bill, you vacuum up oil much faster than normal.
Set Up A Passive Supply
Active hunting is fun for a while, but eventually, you want your base to do the heavy lifting.
If you assign a Dumud or a Dumud Gild to your base's Ranch, they will periodically drop High Quality Pal Oil right onto the ground. This method is slower than hunting, but it runs constantly while you are off exploring. If you want to optimize this, try to catch a Dumud with the Work Slave passive trait so they produce items faster. Buying Your Way Out
If you have deep pockets, you can bypass the grind entirely. Trek up to Duneshelter, the small NPC town located in the desert to the far north of the Hill of Beginnings. Look for the Wandering Merchant in the red coat. He sells High Quality Pal Oil for 300 Gold a pop.
That adds up brutally fast, but if you have a massive passive gold farm running, it is the quickest way to stock up. If you hate traveling back and forth, you can actually catch the merchant in a Pal Sphere and assign him directly to your base for on-demand shopping.
What Actually Uses High Quality Pal Oil
You will need an endless supply of this stuff for advanced weapons, armor, and base facilities. You need these high-tier armaments if you plan on surviving the endgame zones or robbing the newly reworked Palworld 1.0 wildlife sanctuaries. Once you have a massive stack of oil, use the hold F key toggle setting to rapidly craft your Polymer and save your fingers the strain.
