Paralives Vibe System Guide: Picking Your Perfect Personality

Your choice of Storyteller dictates whether your digital life is a cozy dream or an absolute nightmare.

Two Paralives characters, a woman in a light pink dress and a man in a white button-down, smiling and laughing in a lush garden with climbing red and pink roses.

After you finish character creation and wrap up that quick train tutorial, the game hits you with a massive choice. You have to pick a Storyteller. These are essentially your difficulty modifiers, wrapped up as narrators who govern your day-to-day existence. They handle the background math for things like how fast time passes, whether your characters age, and your pregnancy odds. More importantly, they pop up every night to hand you Story Cards for various buffs, and they interject during conversations with Together Cards that grant new Relationship Labels. You have three distinct options: Maxence, Ricardo Castello III, and Stella (who is a literal dog).

Meeting the Narrators

There is no absolute correct answer for who to pick, but you need to know exactly what you are signing up for. The game is in Early Access, so these presets might shift later, but right now, each narrator brings a very specific flavor to your household.

Maxence (The Balanced Route)

If you want a standard, fair simulation experience, go with Maxence. You start with 30,000 in the bank, and your Paras are smart enough to automatically eat and use the restroom while they are on the clock at their jobs. Strangely enough, he gives you the highest default chance for multiple babies, sitting at a 20 percent chance for twins and a 10 percent chance for triplets.

Ricardo Castello III (The Punishing Route)

Before you pick Ricardo, know that he is entirely ruthless. I suffered two kitchen fires on the exact same day with him, right after spending thousands to replace a busted fridge and a broken toilet. He starts you with the standard 30,000 funds, but he actively disables your Paras' ability to automatically eat or use the restroom at work. You will constantly deal with life's lowest lows, including getting fired. His twin and triplet odds are drastically lower too, sitting at 5 percent and 1 percent, respectively.

Stella (The Cozy Route)

Stella is a dog. She also happens to be the best option if you just want to build houses and relax without fighting the game. She protects you from all the harsh simulation elements, starts you with a boosted 35,000 in funds, and lets your Paras take care of their basic needs at work automatically. Her pregnancy odds for twins and triplets mirror Ricardo's lower rates, but otherwise, she is your absolute best ticket to an incredibly easy playthrough.

Customizing the Chaos

If you hate the presets, you are not locked into them. You can completely tailor your narrator's underlying math to fit whatever bizarre scenario you want to run.

Tweaking the Dials

You can pause the game by hitting ESC and clicking the Storyteller button, or by hitting the three dots in the top right corner of the screen. From here, you can switch your Storyteller entirely at any point during your playthrough, or just dig into the custom settings. Don't want your characters to ever die? Just turn off aging or extend the life duration. Want to focus entirely on family genetics? Crank those twin and triplet odds through the roof.

The Money Cap

If you want to bypass the starting funds limitation completely for an incredibly easy start, you can manually input a massive fortune. The hard cap for starting cash is 99,999,999. If you try to type a single digit higher than that, the menu will just revert back to whatever number you had in the box previously. Keep in mind that tweaking the starting funds after you already began playing with a family will not actually deposit any extra cash into your account. You have to set up your bankroll before you officially start your life in town.
