Subnautica 2 Guide: How to Find Conduit Crystals
Grinding for mid-game crafting materials is painful when the game refuses to tell you where to look.
Conduit Crystals are easily one of the most frustrating resources to gather in Subnautica 2. You will not find massive, convenient farms where they are all grouped together in one safe spot. Instead, you have to hunt them down one by one across a massive expanse of the deep ocean. Before you dedicate an entire agonizing expedition just to farming these rocks, I highly recommend grabbing them naturally while you complete your main story quests. I tracked down the best spots to look so you do not come home empty handed.
Prepping for the Deep Dive
You cannot just swim down and grab these crystals barehanded. They only spawn at depths of 300 meters and below.
Before you even attempt the journey, you absolutely need to build a Tadpole submarine and equip it with a Depth Module Mk. 1. If you try to take a standard Tadpole down there, the water pressure will crush your vehicle into scrap metal.
You also need the right tools for extraction. Conduit Crystals are far too massive to break with your basic Survival Multitool. You have to bring a Sonic Resonator to blast the nodes apart. Hitting a node with a charged sonic blast yields anywhere from one to four crystals.
Surviving the Collector Leviathan
The most reliable place to find these crystals is the Power Plant biome. To get there, start at your Lifepod and travel roughly 1,600 meters east. You need to dive down to around 350 to 400 meters. You will know you are in the right spot when you spot various factory buildings and a gigantic tent-like structure covering a massive canyon.
Getting there is the hard part. The route between the Graveyard and the Observatory biomes is heavily patrolled by the Collector Leviathan. This massive predator will absolutely attack you while you are driving your Tadpole. Keep your eyes open, stay low, and do not stick around if you hear it roaring.
The Best Farming Locations
Once you survive the commute, you actually have to locate the nodes. I have found three reliable methods for securing this material without spending hours swimming in circles.
The Power Plant Biome
As mentioned, the canyon floor around the Power Plant is littered with scattered nodes. Search the ground and the cliff edges. You will usually spot one or two crystals jutting out of the terrain.
The Alien Ruins Angel Comb
This is arguably the most efficient spot if you are already doing the story objectives. Head to the Alien Ruins and locate the corrupted Angel Comb nearby. Once you fully activate and cleanse this specific flower, it actually spawns around four to five new Conduit Crystals right in the immediate vicinity.
East of the Alien Ruins
If you already cleared the Angel Comb and need more materials, keep heading east from the Alien Ruins. As long as you maintain a depth below 300 meters, you will continue to spot random nodes scattered along the dark seabed.
Conduit Crystal Crafting Recipes
You need to stockpile these crystals because they are mandatory for some of the most important mid to late game progression items. You cannot unlock the alien language or upgrade your movement speed without them.
If you are trying to map out your crafting goals, here is exactly what you need these crystals for.
