Super Battle Golf Beginner Guide: How to Survive the Fairway

Golf is usually a game of patience and quiet respect. Super Battle Golf is what happens when you give eight unhinged people a bag of clubs and high yield explosives.

Super Battle Golf cartoon gameplay: A fish character swings a golf club on a sunny desert course, while another character with a bucket helmet holds a bat-club, near a red flag and golf cart.

You are not just racing against the clock in this game. You are actively dodging landmines, homing missiles, and people trying to run you over with a golf cart. It is absolute mayhem, but there is a genuine layer of strategy buried under all the explosions. If you just walk up to the ball and swing without thinking about your surroundings, you are going to spend the entire match face down in the dirt.

I have played an unhealthy amount of this game, mostly figuring out how to terrorize my friends for my Super Battle Golf 100% Achievement Guide. If you want to actually win a match and stop getting bullied on the fairway, you need to understand the item economy, master the movement controls, and learn when to play aggressively. Here is the complete beginner survival manual.

The Essential Controls

The game does not do a great job of explaining the nuances of movement and swinging. You need to commit these basic controls to muscle memory immediately.

Perfecting Your Swing

Swinging your club is not just about raw power. You have to control the angle and the trajectory if you want to clear hazards.

  • Aiming: Hold down the Right Mouse Button to line up your shot.

  • Swing Angle: Use your scroll wheel to adjust the angle of your swing. If you need maximum distance to cross a massive gap, set your angle exactly to 45 degrees. A lower angle keeps the ball closer to the ground, which is perfect for rolling across the green without overshooting the hole.

  • Straight Shots: Hold the Left Mouse Button to charge your power. Release it at or under 100% for a clean, straight shot.

  • Homing Shots: If you look directly at a target (like an opponent) and overcharge your swing past 100%, the ball will actually lock on and home in on them.

Movement and Survival

You are incredibly vulnerable while you are lining up a shot. You have to be ready to move at a second's notice.

  • Jumping: Press Space to jump over small obstacles or clear low walls.

  • Diving: Press CTRL to dive out of the way. This is your best defensive tool. You can dive to dodge incoming homing shots, avoid getting flattened by a cart, or throw yourself out of the blast radius of an explosive.

  • Environment: Press E to interact with things like abandoned carts or to pick up items off the ground.

Managing the Chaos (The Items)

You cannot win purely on golfing skill. The map is littered with purple suitcases featuring question marks. These contain items that can completely flip a match in seconds. You can hold up to three items at a time, and you can press F to drop an item if you need to free up a slot for something better.

The Super Battle Golf Arsenal

Every item in the game and exactly how much damage it does to your friendships.

The Item What It Actually Does
Rocket Launcher Fires a homing missile that locks onto a target and completely stuns them upon impact.
Air Horn A pure trolling tool. Blast this right as someone is charging their swing meter to violently disrupt their shot.
Landmine Lets you bury up to three explosives. Bury these directly on the hole or in high traffic choke points to ruin someone's day.
Golf Cart A massive mobility boost. It holds up to eight people, but it is best used as a battering ram to run over your opponents.
Orbital Laser The ultimate weapon. It drops a devastating laser strike from the sky. It is incredibly rare, so make it count.
Spring Boots Let's you launch yourself massive distances across the map. Great for skipping tedious platforming sections.
Dueling Pistol A highly accurate, single shot weapon that instantly stuns whoever you hit.
Elephant Gun A powerful rifle with massive recoil. Point it at the ground while jumping to launch yourself forward.
Electromagnet Generates a temporary shield that completely blocks incoming projectiles and items for roughly six seconds.
Coffee Gives you a ten second speed boost. Honestly, it is pretty underwhelming compared to everything else.

The Item Tier List (What You Actually Want)

Not all items are created equal. If your inventory is full and you see a fresh purple suitcase, you need to know what to drop.

The Golf Cart is arguably the best consistent item in the game. It allows you to cross massive sections of the map incredibly fast, and running over someone guarantees a stun. The Dueling Pistol is right behind it. It requires no setup. You just point and click to instantly interrupt someone's turn.

The Orbital Laser is undeniably the most powerful item in the game, but the spawn rate is so absurdly low that you cannot rely on it as a core strategy. If you get it, use it to clear the green right before you sink your final putt.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Coffee is practically useless. The speed boost is negligible compared to the sheer utility of the Spring Boots or the Golf Cart. Drop it the second you find literally anything else. As for the Air Horn, it offers zero tactical mobility or lethal damage, but it is hands down the funniest item in the game. Using it to make your friend overshoot a crucial putt into a lake is worth throwing the entire match.

Advanced Survival Strategies

If you want to consistently place in the top three, you have to think beyond just hitting the ball.

Melee Combat

Do not forget that you are holding a giant metal club. If you are racing someone to a dropped item or running alongside them on the fairway, just hit them with your club. Hitting an opponent stuns them and grants you a short speed boost, ensuring you reach your ball (or the item) first.

Checkpoint Management

The map is covered in floating red objects that turn green when you pass near them. These are your checkpoints. If you get blown off the map by a rocket launcher or accidentally drive your cart into a lake, you will respawn at your last active checkpoint. Never take a risky shortcut unless you have a secure checkpoint directly behind you.

Earning Points

You do not actually have to be the best golfer to win the game. Your final score is a combination of finishing the hole in fewer strokes, finishing first overall, and the raw amount of damage you inflict on other players. If your putting game is terrible, you can absolutely salvage your score by spending the entire match blowing people up with landmines and running them over with a golf cart. Embrace the violence.
