007 First Light Guide: Surviving The Damien Interrogation

Getting tied to a chair is an occupational hazard for a spy, but hacking a phone while getting punched in the face requires serious finesse.

The 'Uninvited' chapter takes a sharp turn when you end up strapped down and at the mercy of Damien Webb. He's pacing around the room with his phone, and you need to download his data before it's too late. The catch is that the hack progress meter only moves when he gets close to you. To pull this off, you have to manipulate the conversation, take some heavy hits, and manage your health perfectly.

Mastering The Provoke And Stall Mechanics

You have two main dialogue options while Damien talks: Provoke or Stall. Hitting Provoke makes you insult him, which brings him storming back to punch you. This keeps him right in range for the data transfer, but it drains your health fast. Choosing Stall gives you a brief breather to recover some precious HP while he wanders around the room.

Before you panic and mash the Provoke button to speed up the hack, watch your health bar and the timer on your screen. The best trick I found is waiting until the absolute last possible second to select your dialogue option. Letting the decision timer run down gives your health maximum time to regenerate between his attacks. Just don't let the clock hit zero, or you fail the mission entirely.

The Correct Dialogue Sequence

If you mess around with the wrong choices, Damien will figure out your plan or simply wander off, forcing you to reload the checkpoint. You need to balance taking damage with keeping his attention focused entirely on you. Here is the exact path to get that meter to 100 percent without flatlining.

Dialogue Choice Outcome & Hack Progress
Provoke You mock him for bringing sedatives to a party. He punches you. (42% Hack / Medium Health)
Provoke You ask about Niko's dead brother. He punches you again. (79% Hack / Critically Low Health)
Stall You bluff that MI6 has the place surrounded. This buys you crucial time to heal. (95% Hack / Medium Health)
Provoke You ask if his father still scolds him like a child. He stays close long enough for the download to finish. (100% Hack / Low Health)

Why Alternative Options Get You Killed

You might be tempted to mix up your responses to see what happens, but Damien is incredibly volatile. If you try to stall him too early by asking if there is an MI6 mole, or by pressing him on what dirt 009 had, he completely loses interest. He walks away, your hack fails instantly, and it’s an instant game-over.

On the flip side, don't get overly aggressive. If you try to provoke him three times in a row without using that crucial third-round stall, he realizes you're just baiting him to keep him close. He'll drop the interrogation act and kill you on the spot. (I had to learn the hard way that repeatedly mocking a billionaire's family trauma is bad for my health.) Stick strictly to the script, take your bruises, and you'll walk away with the data.
