Raccoin Character Unlock Guide: Climbing The Corporate Ladder
Grinding the infinite coin pusher with the default raccoon gets old fast, but expanding your roster requires some serious survival skills.
The Manager
You start your journey with the Manager. Do not let the fact that he is the default character trick you into thinking he is weak. The Manager possesses some of the most consistent and reliable perks in the entire game.
His playstyle revolves around Math coins. These are incredibly straightforward pieces of currency that exist simply to add flat value to your other coins. You do not have to worry about complex positioning or weird elemental reactions. You just drop them on the board and watch your numbers go up.
His passive perks are what make him a powerhouse. The Manager gives you two additional exchanges per round and a massive bonus to the total amount of tickets you earn. If you want to farm currency to buy out the shop, this is your guy. I highly recommend sticking with him until you fully grasp the physics of the machine.
The Biologist
Your first hurdle is reaching round eight with the Manager. It does not matter if you immediately fail and lose the run after hitting round eight. Just cross that threshold and the Biologist unlocks.
This character introduces a massive spike in mechanical complexity. The Biologist relies entirely on Animal and Plant coins. Unlike the Manager's simple math logic, these nature themed coins require distinct pairings to actually trigger their effects. Dropping a lone Bunny coin does absolutely nothing. You need other Bunny coins nearby to activate their swarm effect. Alternatively, dropping aggressive predator coins like Wolves requires you to have a healthy population of prey on the board for them to hunt and consume for value.
It forces you to draft your clip very carefully. If you buy a bunch of predators without any prey, your run will stall out immediately.
The Chemist
Once you figure out the food chain and drag the Biologist to round nine, you will unlock my personal favorite character. The Chemist is a dog that completely ignores subtlety in favor of heavy ordnance.
Playing the Chemist means utilizing Element coins. You are going to be dropping TNT and Whirlwind coins that violently detonate, physically launching massive piles of currency off the edge of the machine. It is a fantastic way to clear dead zones and force progression.
The Chemist also features a unique passive perk that allows you to stack up to five Modifier Prizes. Modifiers are critical for turning basic copper into high value assets, and having the capacity to hoard five of them gives you incredible flexibility.
The Trader
Survive the explosive chaos of the Chemist until round ten and you will unlock the Trader. This character is designed for people who love to gamble with their run.
The Trader heavily manipulates the Spin Wheel mechanics. His primary perk shortens the combo threshold required to generate Spin Energy. This means you will be triggering the wheel constantly, spawning a ridiculous amount of prize balls and bonus coins onto your board. If you do not fully understand how combos dictate the wheel, I strongly suggest reviewing my Raccoin Advanced Scoring Strategy guide before picking him.
The danger here comes from his specific coin pool. The Trader introduces the Jetoin. It is a highly volatile coin that assigns itself a completely random value when it finally scores. Sometimes it pays out a massive jackpot. Other times it literally steals points away from your total. You have to be comfortable with bad RNG to succeed with this archetype.
The Astronomer
Push the Trader to round eleven to unlock the Astronomer. This bunny is arguably the most creative character in the roster.
The Astronomer utilizes a mechanic called Astrofall. Normally, once a coin lands on the board, it is entirely at the mercy of the physical pushers. Astrofall coins break the laws of physics. They can literally jump off the board and land in completely different sections of the machine.
Triggering these jumps drastically increases the value of the coin. You have to strategically place them in areas where they will get pushed, trigger an Astrofall, and land in a more lucrative lane. You also get one free use of an Astro coin per round, which is incredibly useful for setting up your board early. Pairing the Sun coin with specific modifiers on this character leads to some of the highest scoring rounds in the game. If you are confused by how modifiers interact with these weirdly behaving coins, check out my Raccoin Mechanics Explained breakdown.
The Big Eater
Reaching round twelve with the Astronomer unlocks the final character. The Big Eater demands a ridiculous amount of setup and patience.
You are forced to work with Food coins. A standard Food coin like the Chococoin is practically worthless on its own. The catch is that you do not just drop them onto the board. The Big Eater comes equipped with an exclusive Cooking Pot gadget.
You have to use these Food coins as raw ingredients, literally cooking them inside the pot to forge incredibly powerful enhancements. It turns the game from a fast paced coin pusher into a methodical resource management simulator. You have to intentionally delay scoring your basic coins so you can harvest them for recipes. Considering a full run ends at round fifteen, unlocking the Big Eater means you are already capable of beating the game. Now you just get to do it while making soup.
