Morbid Metal Achievement Guide: Surviving The Early Access Grind

A roguelite with character-switching combat is practically designed to test your reflexes and your patience.

Morbid Metal throws you into a brutal loop of slashing, dodging, and dying. If you are hunting for 100% completion, you have to master the combat flow and endure a massive currency grind. Because the game is currently in Early Access, the achievement list is relatively short at exactly 13 trophies. However, Early Access also means dealing with unfinished mechanics and frustrating bugs that can temporarily lock you out of a perfect score.

If you want to clear your checklist efficiently, you need to know exactly which milestones happen naturally and which ones require you to actively manipulate your runs. I have broken down the entire achievement list into progression milestones, combat challenges, and the inevitable endgame grind.

Story And Natural Progression

You do not have to stress about this first batch of achievements. As long as you are actively pushing through the biomes and defeating bosses, these will unlock automatically.

Unmissable Story Achievements

These trophies are hardcoded into your standard progression path.

Achievement Name How To Unlock
Calibration complete Finish the opening tutorial sequence. Unlocks the moment you step foot into the first real biome.
Now you're two Unlock the second playable character, Ekku. This happens automatically as part of the story while pushing through the Sublime Garden (Biome 1).
You're closer Complete the Sublime Garden (Biome 1) by surviving the zone and defeating the first main boss, Saru.
And three Unlock the third playable character, Vekta. Happens automatically as you progress through the Steel Sanctuary (Biome 2).
I see you Complete the Steel Sanctuary (Biome 2) by defeating Prophet. As of the current Early Access build, this is the final biome available.

Combat Challenges And Hub Upgrades

Once you have your characters unlocked, the game expects you to start engaging with the deeper roguelite mechanics and the style meter.

Welcome to the Void: This is essentially a freebie. During a run, you will inevitably reach the Emporium stage to spend your coins. Interacting with the Void Rift there triggers this achievement.

Your Path has just begun: When you die and return to the Void Nexus hub, you use a currency called Void Matter to purchase permanent upgrades that apply to your entire roster. Buying your very first permanent upgrade pops this trophy.

So stylish: This game uses a character-action combat rating system. As you fight, a style rank appears on the right side of your screen. To hit the maximum SSS rank, you have to constantly mix up your attacks, cycle between characters, and completely avoid taking damage. You can easily knock this out in the early areas once you have Ekku unlocked and understand the combo flow.

He will never know: While exploring, look for optional doors marked with two crossed swords. These are Operator's Trials. They force you to clear a room under highly specific conditions, such as requiring you to swap characters every five seconds. Successfully clear the challenge room to unlock the achievement.

Are you sure?: This requires a specific hub upgrade first. You must spend Void Matter in the Neural Nexus to unlock the ability for Devil's Bargains to spawn during your runs. Once active, look for these high-risk, high-reward modifiers right before a main boss. Accept the bargain, take the debuff, and the achievement is yours.

The Grind, The Collectibles, And The Early Access Bugs

The final three achievements are where the 100% completion run usually stalls out. You have to endure a massive grind, hunt for secrets, and pray the code actually works.

The Endgame Checklist

Prepare to sink a lot of hours into fulfilling these final requirements.

Achievement Name The Strategy And Warnings
That's the first chapter You need to find a single lore codex. They do not drop from enemies. You have to actively explore the environments and check high platforms and obscure corners. Pick one up, and you can read it back at the main hub.
That's enough Collect a total of 50,000 Nano Coins. This is the ultimate grind. Nano Coins are the standard currency dropped by enemies. The counter is cumulative across all your deaths and runs, so just keep playing until you hit the threshold.
Be stronger WARNING: CURRENTLY BUGGED. You are supposed to unlock this by equipping your first Corpora (a massive stat-boosting item found right before the first boss). Right now, the Early Access code is failing to trigger the unlock properly for many players. You may have to wait for a patch.
