Yes, The New ARC Raiders Update Just Broke All The Doors (And The Extractions)

If you are reading this while hiding in a corner of Stella Montis, praying that the extraction button will finally work if you press it for the hundredth time: I have bad news.

The "Cold Snap" update dropped today with festive cheer, snow-covered maps, and a very reasonable skill tree reset cost. Unfortunately, it seems to have also brought a catastrophic bug that is currently holding the entire player base hostage.

The Stella Montis Trap

The issue is widespread, but it is absolutely debilitating on the new map, Stella Montis. Because that map is primarily indoors, a network of tunnels and facilities, meaning those pretty handy doors aren't just scenery to enjoy, they are the only way to get around.

Right now, while the UI prompt to "Press E" appears on doors nothing happens when you actually press it about 25% of the time. You are effectively locked in (or out) of rooms, turning the map into a claustrophobic maze of dead ends.

The Extraction Nightmare

If broken doors were the only issue, it would just be annoying. But the bug extends to Extraction points.

This is the nightmare scenario for an extraction shooter. You can spend 20 minutes farming loot, fighting off raiders, and surviving the cold, only to reach the extraction point and realize you literally cannot leave. The button to call the extraction simply refuses to work.

I have seen reports of squads timing out and losing everything because the game physically wouldn't let them interact with the one mechanic required to save their progress. It is arguably the worst kind of bug an extraction game can have.

Wait For The Hotfix

To be clear: this is obviously an accidental bug introduced with Patch 1.7.0. Embark didn't intentionally decide to trap us all in a snowy underground bunker forever.

However, until a hotfix rolls out, do not drop into Stella Montis with your best gear. In fact, you might want to hold off on raiding entirely unless you are comfortable with the high probability of losing your kit to a new glitch.

You aren't the only one suffering. We are all stuck in the lobby waiting for the doors to work again.
