Arc Raiders Just Added a New Feature for locked room Glitchers, and It Involves Being Burned Alive
Most developers fix map exploits with invisible walls. Embark Studios fixes them with flamethrowers and humiliation.
We all know the type. The guy who refuses to find a keycard. The guy who spends hours rubbing his character's face against a wall, or getting a buddy to push him, just to clip through the geometry and steal the high-tier loot inside.
In Arc Raiders, those days are officially over as the developers have decided to grab some inspiration from the saw movies.
As spotted in a hilarious Reddit video today, players who manage to glitch their way into locked loot rooms are in for a nasty surprise. The moment you clip inside, the door remains locked. There is no way out. You are trapped in a concrete box.
The "Spicy" Update
Being trapped would be bad enough, but Embark went the extra mile. A few seconds after you realize you are stuck, vents open up on the walls. Then, literal jets of fire erupt, turning the entire room into a blast furnace.
You can panic, you can roll, and you can cry, but you are going to die. It is a brutal, violent, and incredibly funny way to handle an exploit.
Embark’s Community Lead, Ossen, didn't even try to hide the joy he took in this. He popped into the Reddit thread to comment on the video of the burning player with a simple, terrifying message: "feeling a little extra spicy today."
Justice Served Crispy
This is the kind of petty developer justice I live for. An invisible wall just says "no." A fire trap says "you tried to cheat, and now you have lost your gear, your loot, and your dignity."
It turns a technical exploit into a gameplay moment. You successfully broke into the room, congratulations! Your reward is third-degree burns and a trip back to the lobby.
So, a word of advice for anyone thinking about saving time on their next run: if the door is locked, find the key. Or go ahead and clip through. Just make sure you like your Raider extra crispy.
