Ubisoft's Worst-Kept Secret Just Leaked (Again), and It’s Called 'Resynced'
At this point, I am convinced Ubisoft's internal security is just a sticky note that says "Please do not tell anyone," because Assassin's Creed Black Flag has leaked again.
We all knew it was coming. The rumors of an Edward Kenway comeback have been circulating longer than a ship in a whirlpool, but today we got the smoking gun. A listing for "Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced" has appeared on the PEGI website, confirming not only the game's existence but also its bizarre new subtitle.
The Leak That Sank the Surprise
The listing was originally spotted by YouTuber CorkbenYT and amplified by Assassin's Creed community hub The Hidden One. The rating is exactly what you would expect: PEGI 18 for violence, bad language, and the inevitable "in-game purchases" that modern Ubisoft simply cannot live without.
What makes this significant is the timing. We are roughly 48 hours away from The Game Awards. Ratings boards like PEGI don't just rate games for fun; they rate them because a release (or at least a pre-order page) is imminent. If Geoff Keighley doesn't have a pirate ship on his stage this Thursday, I will eat my own hidden blade.
What Does "Resynced" Actually Mean?
The name "Resynced" is the real curveball here. For months, insiders have been talking about a full-blown Remake under the codename "Project Obsidian," supposedly built on the new Anvil engine used for Shadows. However, "Resynced" sounds a lot less like a ground-up remake and a lot more like a fancy word for "Remastered".
If this were a Resident Evil 4-style remake, wouldn't they just call it Black Flag Remake? The "Resynced" branding likely refers to the Animus lore (synchronizing memories), but it implies a visual polish rather than a complete overhaul. It suggests we might be getting higher resolution textures, 60fps support, and maybe some quality-of-life tweaks, but probably not a brand-new game built from scratch.
Whatever it is, we won't have to wait long. Ubisoft has had a rough few years with games like Star Wars Outlaws underperforming, so a nostalgia play like Black Flag is exactly the safety net they need right now. Get your sea shanties ready, folks. We’re going back to Nassau.
