Battlefield 6 Launched With a Day-One Patch and Is Still Broken in About a Million Hilarious Ways

The good news is, the game is fantastic. The bad news is, it's being held together with duct tape and a prayer. Here's the official list of all the things that are currently, spectacularly broken.

So, you survived the great EA App outage and finally got into a match. You've dialed in your graphics and gameplay settings and are ready to dominate. It's a glorious feeling, isn't it? The gunplay is crisp, the destruction is beautiful, and the core gameplay is a stunning return to form. It’s a shame the whole thing is riddled with more bugs than an abandoned building.

Even after a massive day-one update that claimed to have over 200 fixes, the game is still creaking and groaning under the weight of its own ambition. To their credit, the developers at Battlefield Studios have been transparent about the mess, publishing a list of known issues they're actively working on.

It’s a long list. A very, very long list. So, if you’ve been getting shot by invisible players, or your favorite gun sight seems to be having an out-of-body experience, you’re not crazy. It’s just another Tuesday in Battlefield 6. Here’s a breakdown of the official bug report.

The Big Stuff: Gameplay & Combat Bugs

  • Player & Movement: Soldiers will sometimes bounce off objects they're trying to vault over or just randomly bounce when landing on certain surfaces.

  • Weapons: The crosshair doesn't scale properly in 4K resolution, some guns are missing camera shake when aiming, and others won't reload if you press the button too quickly after firing. Also, on certain scopes, the lens might just decide to detach itself while you're reloading.

  • Gadgets: The EOD Bot can get stuck on supply crates, and the Defibrillators are having "inconsistent hit registration." So, you might not be a bad medic after all; the game just decided your teammate should stay dead.

  • Vehicles: Certain air-to-air missiles have been temporarily disabled because they weren't working properly. You love to see it.

The Annoying Stuff: UI & Progression Bugs

  • UI & HUD: The HUD might just not appear at all if you're playing in a 16:10 aspect ratio. The scoreboard might not update if you join a match mid-round. Oh, and the Command Console just can't be accessed at all right now.

  • Progression: A whole bunch of challenges aren't tracking progress correctly. Resupplying teammates, repairing vehicles, and using vehicle supply crates might not count towards your goals. One weapon challenge requires 15 longshot kills but the description tells you to get a kill with each weapon type. Whoops.

  • Settings: If you played on PC on launch day, your controller deadzone was probably set way too high, causing aim drift. The new default is 8%, so you should probably change that. For console players, Dynamic Resolution Scaling in Performance Mode is busted and requires you to toggle it off and on every time you join a new match.

The "How Did This Even Happen?" Bugs

  • Single Player: The campaign is a whole other can of worms. Teammates can get stuck, checkpoints can break, and playing outside the intended mission area can cause the AI to just give up entirely. On PC, the game might just start interacting with other apps on your computer if you're in windowed mode.

  • Cosmetics: Patches are missing on some skins, some camos are just wrong, and one skin is so "overly saturated" that the developers have promised to "reduce its vibrancy" in a future update.

  • Portal: You can't host a Portal experience if the server description has any special characters. Also, you can't scroll to the bottom row in the "My Experiences" tab.

This isn't even the full list, just the highlights DICE chose to share. It's a mess, but it's a beautiful, fun mess. While you wait for the next patch to drop, your best bet is to brush up on our 10 essential multiplayer tips and pray your favorite scope doesn't decide to achieve sentience mid-firefight.
