Destiny 2 Old Lights Emblem Guide: How To Secure The Ultimate Ten-Year Flex
Bungie is checking your digital attendance record across a full decade of space magic to see if you qualify for the ultimate parting gifts.
The Monument of Triumph update marks the official sunsetting of Destiny 2 live-service updates, which is a pretty surreal pill to swallow if you have spent a massive chunk of your adult life inside the orbit screen. Instead of just turning off the lights, the studio dropped two highly exclusive vanity items to reward the absolute loyalists who stuck through the entire ride. If your account history passes the test, you'll score the Old Lights emblem and the Elemental Qi emote. I spent my morning digging through the official technical criteria to see who actually gets to walk away with these final tokens of appreciation.
Passing The Ultimate Attendance Check
The entry barrier for these rewards is incredibly steep, turning them into a pure badge of honor. Your Bungie ID and every single platform account linked to it must show at least one active login during every single major expansion era starting all the way back at the 2017 launch up through June 8, 2026.
Before you panic trying to remember if you played during the dark days of Curse of Osiris (a era I still try to block out of my memory entirely), you should know that you only need a single minute of logged playtime within each window. If you logged in to check the vendor stock once during a calendar year, you're safe.
The exact timeline covers eight specific eras that you had to touch to secure your loot:
The Vanilla Era: September 6, 2017 to September 3, 2018
The Forsaken Days: September 4, 2018 to September 30, 2019
The Shadowkeep Drop: October 1, 2019 to November 9, 2020
The Beyond Light Winter: November 10, 2020 to February 21, 2022
The Witch Queen Peak: February 22, 2022 to February 27, 2023
The Lightfall Expansion: February 28, 2023 to June 3, 2024
The Final Shape Climax: June 4, 2024 to July 14, 2025
The Year of Prophecy: July 15, 2025 to June 8, 2026
If you're a Korean Guardian, Bungie adjusted the logic so you'll naturally qualify even if your history starts a bit later during the Shadowkeep window. The studio is also updating the actual background art of the emblem to explicitly pay homage to Rise of Iron and the Monument of Triumph, ensuring it looks like a proper badge of honor.
How To Check Your Account History
If your memory is completely shot and you can't recall your exact gaming habits from five years ago, you don't have to guess. A brilliant community tool called the Old Lights Eligibility Checker does all the tracking for you.
You just load up the portal and sign in with your standard Bungie credentials. The app scrapes your actual account database to display your precise playtime hours across every individual expansion block, handing you a direct yes or no answer on whether your rewards are secure.
Surviving The Distribution Waves
If the tool confirms your veteran status but your inventory is still completely bare, do not start filing angry support tickets just yet. Because the developer is processing millions of accounts, the rewards are going out in distinct, staggered rollout waves.
Before you stress about a broken account, give the system a few days to breathe. The official community team explicitly noted that you should wait until the second massive wave finishes rolling out before you bother tracking down a missing item ticket.
Once your account is successfully flagged, the actual extraction process is dead simple:
Picking Up Your Loot
The Old Lights Emblem: Open your main directory, jump into Collections, click through to Flair, select Emblems, and look inside the Account sub-menu.
The Elemental Qi Emote: Head straight to the Tower plaza and pull it out of the Special Deliveries Terminal.
Since you'll be hanging around the Tower to grab your veteran gear anyway, you might as well kick off your end-game currency loop by checking out my Destiny 2 Legendary Marks farming guide. If your history checks out and you need something to pass the time while waiting for your specific distribution wave to hit, you can also start working on your weapon collection with my Destiny 2 new Exotic catalysts locations guide. Just make sure you cross off the easy solo milestones first so you don't waste your final moments in orbit stuck on a loading screen.
